Islands of the Month, Mystery of the Map Island, Virus Hunter Island

An Iota of IOTM

Hello readers!

UPDATE: Poptropica has updated its post to say that old-timers will also be rewarded as well – the first time you complete an Island you’ve already finished, you’ll get a 100 credit bonus. Also,  those of you who have already completed the IOTM – you’ll get a 300 credit bonus the first time you complete it again!

While I’m struggling with composite functions, there’s big news in Poptropica: they increased the credit count for completing islands (again)! They’ve doubled it from 150 to 300! (I swear, things always get easier for the younger generation, doesn’t it?)

In addition, every month, the creators are going to feature two Islands of the Month, which will award 500 credits… to first-time finishers. Come on creators, throw us old-timers a bone!

This month’s IOTM (Islands of the Month) are Mystery of the Map (guide here) and Virus Hunter (guide here), for anyone who wants to try to get some extra credits. The Creators also leave us with this promise: “We’ll also be doing some cool stuff for the Islands of the Month here on the (Creators’) blog and on Poptropica’s social media, so stay tuned…”

In addition to this news, the PHB got a shout-out in the very same post! Check it out:

You also might want to explore one of our amazing fan blogs, the Poptropica Help Blog. They have their own Island Guides — one for every Island! We haven’t watched all the videos or read through all the walkthroughs, but we know lots of Poptropica players turn to the PHB for help — so you might want to check them out!

We appreciate the praise creators. We think your walkthroughs are pretty great too… the ones you’ve released, at least.

See you guys later,

PHB Pop-over Special: Gotta Catch ‘Em All, Pokémon!

pop pokemon

Oh yes, we went there.

Welcome to Popémon Go, where Pokémon look like Poptropicans and Poptropicans look like Pokémon! In this weird crossover universe, we’re going to try to catch ‘em all. Are you ready?

First, we’ve gotta by our favorite Pokéstop… the prize wheel on Home Island! Let’s spin that circle! Awesome, we got just enough credits to stock up on some much needed Pokéballs. It’s time to hunt down those pocket monsters!

Look who’s hiding in these bushes… it’s Bulbasaur! How cute. Poptropicanized Pokémon sure look interesting, eh? By the way, you can look up the usernames given above to view the accounts, but unfortunately these are not ASGs. However, you can find all these clothing parts on our Avatar Studio Gift page – and some parts are customizable!

Oh great, three Zubats just popped up. Let’s add them to our collection of twenty other Zubats we’ve already captured… or not. Are they even worth wasting Pokéballs on if they’re too stubborn to be caught?

Moving on… hey, that Arcade over there happens to be a gym, currently dominated by Team Mystic! Blue for Poptropica, right, DJ Saturday Nite? There’s a Charmander screaming “fight me” in there, but it looks tough to beat… then again, if your Poptropican can handle the likes of Mordred from Astro-Knights or Myron Van Buren from Survival, perhaps the challenge is one we can tackle.

Hm, now we’re thinking maybe we could change up our trainer’s look a little. Let’s head over to that New You shop for a makeover. Perhaps a red cap will bring out that Ash Ketchum look that’ll make us look the part of a true Pokémon master. After all, you want to be the very best. Like no one ever was.

Let’s keep looking… oh! Awesome, someone put out a lure on the Photo Booth! Bet we can find some cool creatures here – oh look, it’s Squirtle! Just… let me tap on it… no, stop opening the Pokéstop, I want the Pokémon… ah. Gotcha. Wonder what else is around?

Hey! It’s – hold on a second, gotta sneeze – Pik-achuuuuu! I was wondering when this little guy would show up! I choose you, Pikachu! Ah, this is great. We can go on adventures to Mythology Island together and train those lightning bolt attacks with Zeus!

Well, that was a fun Pokémon hunting spree. What was that? Poptropicans should never be dressed up as Pokémon because that looks ridiculous? Sorry, too late for that! 😂

Oh, and as if the recent PHB Tribal Tournament wasn’t enough (friendly) rivalry… pick your team wisely when you’re on the Go!

Let us know in the comments what you think of Pokémon Go and the costumes we made! Stay popping, Poké-tropicans, and keep poking around!

Feel free to click on the images to view them in their full glory. 😛

Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the top one of the list, here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round forty of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Big Crumb

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Big Crumb, a Poptropican who learned to appreciate Poptropica’s progress and still loves the game. See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip bigcrumb

Hello, fellow Poptropicans! This is Big Crumb, and my username is lazylady19. I wrote this MPIP because I thought it was fun to do! Hope you enjoy!

2011-2012 | An Amazing Discovery!

I made my amazing discovery of Poptropica back when I was in third grade, and it was the teacher who suggested it. Since I didn’t know how to spell it back then, I was quiet about it for a while. Until one day, while I was on Funbrain, I saw a Poptropica advertisement and I thought it would be fun to take a look, because of my teacher’s suggestion.

Of course, being the little stupid kid I was back then, I was very uncreative with usernames and I made a really random one like “lazylady19” [cringes] But I loved Poptropica. I played with my best friend at the time, who helped me solve islands. She also played a little part in my finding of Poptropica.

Like I said before, I LOVED Poptropica. Every day I would make myself a Poptropica goal and say “I’m going to complete this island today!” and sometimes I did… though most of the time I didn’t.

One year in, by 2012, I was literally obsessed with Poptropica! I had about 18 medallions (with the help of my friend of course) and I went on every day to see what was different and what new features had been added.

2013 | PHB Discovery

The islands seemed to get harder as I progressed through the game. I needed a walkthrough (especially for *cough cough* Skullduggery *cough*) I searched up some walkthroughs, but really wasn’t interested because it was all in video format.

But then I discovered a written walkthrough here on the Poptropica Help Blog, which gave me all the details on how to beat the islands! (I also made a WordPress account for this website!) I loved it a LOT. ❤ Love you PHB!

2014 | The Golden Age

Poptropica really improved around this time, and I was very, very interested. I didn’t play as much, but when I did, I cherished it. That was because there were many new islands that I thought were amazing and drastically better than before! The new islands also had demos for non-members, which made me want them to be released sooner, since I couldn’t play the full island as a non-member until after the members’ Early Access period.

2015 | Loss of Interest

Many more upgrades have caught my interest in Poptropica, but in 2015, I barely noticed those changes because I never played. Sometimes, I completely forgot about it. I didn’t play for 4 months since school started, since I was occupied with that.

I checked Poptropica to answer those pop quizzes, but I never actually played. Then one day, I decided to check Poptropica again, and noticed that some of the islands had gotten quite upgraded, plus there were new episodic islands! After all that time, I really didn’t think about how Poptropica could have progressed, but it sure proved that it had!

2016 | Starting to grow on me again!

Yes, Poptropica is starting to grow on me again. Probably not as much as when I started 5 years ago, but it is definitely growing on me again. I’m going into 9th grade and I love checking the PHB, going on Poptropica to complete islands again and again, and I love Poptropica! ❤ It’s been a very interesting trip for me, and I probably left out many, many details, but this is all I can remember for now. After all, it has been five years!
