Announcing the Poptropica Sticker Design Contest!

Hello, Poptropicans!

It’s been a little less than a week since the Poptropica Stickers app was released for iPhones and iPads, and now, Poptropica is introducing a sticker design contest for it!

img_3120

To enter the contest, post your design on Instagram with the hashtag #PoptropicaStickers so that the Creators can see it. You can create with any medium—digital or otherwise—and you can enter as many times as you’d like!

The deadline is July 25, so that gives you about two weeks to submit as many entries as you can. And the prize? To have your sticker design featured in the next app update!

Will you be participating in the contest? I think it’s great the Creators are once again giving Poptropica fans a chance to show off our creativity. I mean, we’re a pretty talented group of people. 😏

(Though we are still waiting for Pop’s promise about runner-up costumes being available in the game from the #MyPoptropicaCostumeContest to become a reality… 😉 )

Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for reading as always, talk to you soon… pop on!

Poptropica Portfolio

Poptropica Portfolio: Jonathan Trimble

What’s up, PHB readers? Welcome to another Poptropica Portfolio, brought to you by Fierce Flyer! (And if you like this one, do check out other portfolios we’ve featured!)

This post’s spotlight shines on Jonathan Trimble, a creative designer from Arizona, USA, who has done work for both the original Poptropica and Poptropica Worlds. Below are some designs from his Behance account (click to enlarge images!).

He shares images of Poptropica on computer and mobile screens; plus, there’s a cool style guide that shows how scenes and art, characters and avatar sets work:

Over on Poptropica Original, he’s done a lot of work with advertising, with scenes from ad buildings for The Lego Batman Movie, ParaNorman, and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Trimble’s portfolio showcases the format of the final product for all three of the ads, as well as the format of the minigames for Lego Batman and ParaNorman.

Next up is one of the most iconic scenes in Escape from Pelican Rock Island (or all of Poptropica, for that matter): sneaking past the prison guards as you try to escape to freedom. Check out the mechanics of your character’s movements:

That’s it for the Poptropica Original side of things, but we haven’t even begun to crack the surface of Poptropica Worlds! Let’s kick things off with its most recent island, Greek Sea Odyssey. Jonathan has created some incredible backgrounds here:

Lastly, we have a ton of Poptropica Worlds avatar designs that you may have seen in the store, as well as some that haven’t made it to the game, perhaps because they’re discarded designs or will be released later. Check them out:

Hope you enjoyed this Poptropica Portfolio from Jonathan Trimble! If you’d like to see more of his work, check out his page on Behance. I’ll see you guys next time!

YouTubers

YouTubers AwesomeTheSauce, Gaming Grape take on Poptropica

Hey Poptropicans, check out the camera—new vids are popping up! 🎥

Some of you might remember from last December when two popular YouTube channels, EthanGamerTV and DanAndPhilGAMES, streamed some Poptropica gameplay with personal commentary. While these guys have yet to make a Pop comeback, recently two more gaming channels have decided to take on our beloved Poptropica.

First, there’s AwesomeTheSauce, who started a Poptropica series in June and has so far gone through Shark Tooth (“#1: Getting Stereotyped in POPTROPICA?!”), Early Poptropica (“#2: I’m A Pig Killer Confirmed?!”), and most recently Reality TV (“#3: This REALITY TV Grandpa is EVIL”), the latter of which is below. The video titles may give you an indication of his humor style, and there is some mild language. If intrigued, check it out:

With a few Poptropica videos already (click the links above to see the other two), it looks like there may be more coming from AwesomeTheSauce. So if you liked what you saw, be sure to subscribe to keep up with his videos!

The other recent Poptropica streamer on YouTube is Gaming Grape, one of the gamers on Annoying Orange Gaming, a channel with several producers.

The channel has only made one Poptropica video, in which Gaming Grape narrates gameplay of Monkey Wrench Island in a nasally voice, kind of like the viral video the YouTube channel is named after. Check it out:

Both YouTubers come to the game with distinctly unique styles of entertainment, and it’s pretty cool to see Poptropica reaching more game-streaming audiences!

What did you think of the videos? Do they stack up to Ethan, Dan and Phil? Are there other YouTubers you’d like to see play Poptropica? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and share Poptropica with your favorite game streamers, too!

Peace, and pop back later,

Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: napstachill

Hello, everyone! It’s Lucky Joker here showcasing the works of napstachill in the newest Pop Fan Artist Spotlight!

Something I find special in an artist is when they have a style that is uniquely theirs—and that is certainly the case with naps. Just by looking at their art, you can tell how distinctive it really is.

Naps mostly features the villains in their Poptropica art, but I’m not complaining—I love villain art! Check out this collection of their awesome artwork below (click to enlarge):

I mean seriously—so awesome, right? Well, you’re in luck because you can see more of their art over on their DeviantArt page where they submit frequently!

I hope you found this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork enjoyable. Don’t forget to check out the other artists I’ve featured here on the PHB. Plus, if you’ve made any Poptropica art of your own, don’t be afraid to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery at We-Love-Poptropica.

Thanks for reading as always and I’ll talk to you soon… pop on!

Make your messages POP!

Hello, everyone—it’s Lucky Joker here! Remember that sneak peek from a couple of days ago? Here it is in case you missed it:

Poptropica Digital Stickers

Well, when the creators said coming soon, they weren’t kidding because today Poptropica just released the all-new Poptropica Stickers app! There’s plenty of sticker options to choose from and some of them are pretty funny. Here they are below:

At this point, the app is only available for iPhones and iPads, which I was afraid of when I first saw the sneak peek. Oh well… I’m sure they’ll be available for other devices soon enough. Also, it’s only usable on the Messages texting app. To get the app, just head to the App Store and search “Poptropica Stickers” to download it for free!

Well, that’s it for now! Thanks for reading as always! Talk to you in the next one…pop on!
