This announcement is big. I’ve been working on this enormous undertaking for a while now, and I’ve finally decided to announce it. Only a few people have known in the past, but now, you get to contribute.

We have the Poptropica Help Blog… We have the Poptropica Help Chat…We have the Poptropica Help Videos, tweets, and Steam group… And today, I come to bring you…

What is the Poptropica Help Wiki, you might ask? It’s basically the ultimate documentation of Poptropica info compiled and maintained by Poptropica players. Eventually we’ll fill up the site with character, island, and item pages. Those pages will have tons of facts and storylines stuffed inside them.

And guess what? You can contribute! This is a community run project, so it’s your job to help out with the content!

We want this wiki to be the best it can be, so please refrain from spam and irrelevant comments.

I’m going to be setting goals for the wiki, so for now, let’s continue making and finishing Character pages (those that would go in the Characters category). You can make other pages, but as a community I feel like we should do this orderly and in portions. At the moment, we have no guidelines, but please don’t plagiarize the site. If you need an idea of what a Character page should look like, take a look at this skeleton.

Galactic Hot Dogs Island trailer, paper craft, & new PCB header

Hey Poptropicans! Galactic Hot Dogs Island is well on its way, and to give everyone a dose of amped-up energy, the trailer video has been released – check it out:

Well, Creators, you had me at noodly Poptropica arms. If nothing else, that should get us on board the Neon Wiener! Scheduled release dates could change, but right now, it looks like it’ll be departing January 29 for members and February 19 for non-members.

Plus, you can now print out and assemble your very own Neon Wiener spaceship paper craft from the island extras section of the official Tour page! There’s even an item card in the Store for this.

Also, joining the Poptropica makeover bandwagon, the Creators’ Blog header has been updated with the “poppy” Poptropica logo! RIP palm trees and curly vines, which are once again tossed aside in favor of puffy clouds and the iconic yellow blimp.

Lastly, remember when PHB reader Pixel went on a mission to complete Early Poptropica Island hundreds of times? Well, earlier this month, Pix reached the milestone of 1000 completions – and found that with 4-digit numbers, the last digit gets cut off. Anyway – congrats! 😀

More on the new Poptropica layout

So, I assume you’ve already seen the new Poptropica homepage. (Check out Blake’s PHB post below for a recap!) I honestly think it’s smexy, but that’s just my opinion. Some people like it, some do not. Either way, I want to go over it with more detail in this post, talking about the little things that they have improved and changed. First of all, they’re definitely going for a more stylized look with the carousel slots – a lot more designing has gone into those, as you can see below.

Second, they seem to be going for a different look entirely with the clouds instead of palm trees and vines – the contrast works great, and I absolutely love the change. They also have finally updated to the new logo with the more bold and “poppy” style. I adore that thing, and if you look closely I put the same style into a lot of my graphics as well.

In the files, the change is labeled as “PopV2”, and contrary to my prior assumption, it’s not just an overlay, it is an actual update. Basically, I thought that they had just stuck all the new stuff over the old stuff. Instead, they have actually woven in the new stuff.

One last thing to say – I found this carousel slide for PoptropiCon: Episode 2. The episode came out quite a while ago, and I can’t imagine why they would release the slide anytime soon (perhaps they’d planned the new layout earlier but didn’t have it ready when P-Con Ep. 2 arrived). However, it’s a cool piece and I’m glad it was uncovered!

A Whole New Layout!

Ah, it’s so nice to get back to Poptropica, where nothing has changed at all in any way– WOAH. What the FUDGESICLES happened here?! Well, unless you’ve been living under a rock (or sleeping on a horse, like I’ve been), you’d have noticed that it’s a new year. And with it, comes a surprising change from the Creators: a new site layout! Timmy, drumroll please?

*drumroll*

A whole new layout… a dazzling place I never knew… but when I’m way up here, it’s crystal clear, that now I’m in a whole new layout with you…

…er, I should probably stop with the Aladdin references. BT makes those already.

Anyway… um, guys? Help. Poptropica runs Windows 8 now, I can’t figure out how to work anything. Well, I’m almost certain I, like many others, will learn to maneuver these changes! Now, for a recap of main changes in this the re-design:

The main login screen has been replaced by a carousel screen that I suppose will cycle through new islands (and other new features) when they come out (similar to the login homepage banner carousel)
There’s now a static image header at the top with the blimp and some clouds.
Important links are listed at the top, including the now-yellow Play Now button.
The link to the Creators’ Blog is now way larger, and runs through the middle of the page.
Islands are now listed in 3 categories: New, Classic, and Popular!

This brings in the New Year in a big way for Poptropica, and I for one support them! I just now figured out how to work the controls as I typed this post, and it actually looks pretty good! Good luck with the new layout, Poptropicans, and stay popping.

Hey everyone! As some of you may remember, the PHB had a Christmas party last year, and it was a blast – so we’re having another one this year! (Yay!) Here are the event details:

WHO: Everyone is welcome to come – you’ll get to chat with Poptropicans and even PHB staff!
WHAT: Multiverse parties and lively chat on the Poptropica Help Chat (aka the PHC: join in at xat.com/thephc) – with a holiday twist. Bring your Santa hats, candy canes, and of course, your very merry Christmas spirit!
WHEN: December 20, 2014 (Saturday) @ 9pm EST / 8pm CST / 7pm MST / 6pm PST (if you do not live in any of these time zones, use a time converter to find out what time it’ll be in your area!)
WHERE: The PHB chatroom, better known as the PHC – xat.com/thephc
