A Pumpkin-ized Poptropica

At the North Logan Pumpkin Walk in Utah, some beloved Poptropica Creators unleashed their creativity by building a pumpkin-based exhibit for Poptropica! Here are the photos from the Creators’ Blog. 😀

Too good to be eaten! And if you visit this Cache Valley display this season, who knows – you may even get to see a Poptropica Creator! 😛

Do you like it? What other Poptropica elements should have a chance to shine?

I see skeletons, skeletons everywhere

A new Skeleton Power is now in the Poptropica Store! It’s a gold card item that’s 75 credits, or free for members. Click on “I’m a Skeleton” to turn into a skeleton, or “I See Skeletons” to turn every character in the area into a skeleton! The costume comes as a head piece and body piece you can customize off.

Now that’s something you might want to consider for the PHB’s 4th Annual Halloween Costume Competition! Show us your spookiest and greatest Poptropica costume here for a chance to have it featured on this blog.

As for making it big – Poptropica just recently had the 500 millionth character created on their website! It’s another milestone this year along with Poptropica turning 5 years old and releasing its 30th island. Go Poptropica! 😀

If Poptropica were a country, it would be the third biggest in the world.

New and Improved Pop Quiz

When Poptropica Friends first came out, everyone was so excited that they actually overloaded Poptropica’s servers and the Creators had to turn some features off until they could fix it.  And one of Poptropica Friends’s best features (or at least in my opinion) was the Pop Quizzes.  They were great…until you answered so many questions that you had no more to answer.  Then you were left staring at something that looked like this:

But, that has all (finally) been fixed, cause the Creators have recently added some new questions!

Finally, a pop quiz you’ll enjoy

We’ve recently added dozens of new pop quizzes to Poptropica Friends. Now, you can share with the world even more of your unique personality — and learn more about your friends, too.

Taking pop quizzes is easy. Just log into your Poptropica account every day for a new quiz, and check out the “recent activity” tab to see what your friends have been up to.

I never knew that Captain Crawfish can climb trees! How do you do that with a peg leg? Very slowly, I guess.

Hmm…  I can’t help but wonder how long those “dozens of new pop quizzes” are going to last me…

In Memory of Neil Armstrong

As some of you may know, Neil Armstrong recently passed away.  Neil Armstrong was the first astronaut to set foot on the moon, and he was someone that will never be forgotten.  The Creators recently did a post honoring this amazing man.

Neil Armstrong, 1930-2012

The crew of the Apollo 11: Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin
Tonight, step outside and take a look at the moon. Imagine knowing that a human being is walking around up there. For most Poptropicans, and even their parents, that’s all we can do: imagine it. It’s never happened in our lives. But the dream became a reality for everybody on planet Earth back on July 21, 1969, when Neil Armstrong became the first person ever to walk on the moon.

Upon setting foot on the lunar surface, Commander Armstrong said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” (He meant to say “one small step for a man,” but as the story goes, he was so overcome by emotion that he botched the line!) It was a moment of hope and optimism for the entire human race. When they returned for home, the astronauts left behind a plaque that said: “Here Men From The Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon the Moon, July 1969 A.D. We Came in Peace For All Mankind.” The plaque is still there.

Neil Armstrong passed away this weekend at the age of 82. His courage continues to inspire millions of people around the globe. Still, you have to wonder: will anybody ever walk on the moon again? What about Mars? I sure hope so.

The next time you look up at the night sky, take a minute to remember the bravery of Neil Armstrong and all the other people who made the risky voyage into outer space. Those first few steps we took into the solar system, we took in the spirit of peace for all mankind — and for whatever else might be out there. Let’s keep exploring!

Like I said before, Neil Armstrong was an amazing man who will never be forgotten.  Take a moment to remember him.

May he rest in peace.

Daily Pops of Pure Imagination and Out-of-this-World Members Gold Cards

Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination

Take a look, and you’ll see into your imagination.

We’ll begin, with a spin, travelling in the world of my creation

What you’ll see will defy explanation

If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it

Anything you want to, do it

Wanta change the world? There’s nothing to it.

Hey guys, BT here. Now you MIGHT be wondering…

“Why the heck did she include a song from a 1970’s movie in this post?”

Well, that 1970’s movie just turns out to be Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In 2005, a remake directed by Tim Burton was seen by many. And maybe in 2012, Poptropica decided to revamp the story to make it an interactive experience?

Squirrely: We don’t imagine there’s a moose anywhere around here.
Fruity: The juice is loose!
Ramshackle: Life among the underclass.
Oh, Fudge: Who is this great big greedy nincompoop?

There could be more Daily Pops relating to this, but those were the ones that stood out to me as Wonka-related. And the most obvious ones, at that. I wonder if this island’s quest would have to do with rescuing the 4 kids that ended up in tight situations (I’m talking about Augustus, Violet, Veruca, and Mike). Besides, I don’t remember the part in either movie where Augustus is seen on a conveyor belt covered in strawberry-flavored chocolate coated fudge, because it wasn’t in the movie.

I could be right. I could be wrong. It’s a prediction, and we’ll have to see. In the meantime, we wait for Lunar Colony’s release for members and demo for non-members. And the members get to have those special gold cards.

The Alien Archaeology card leaves a pretty tall pillar scripted with a peculiar alien language. And by alien, I mean outer space alien. The moon rocks card creates random moon rocks scattering across your screen. And the costume is-well-a costume.

The release of these island-specific gold cards give us the hint that Lunar Colony will be available soon, but not exactly when. We’ll find out soon, won’t we?

BT out!
