Multi Tool is big.
Multi Tool is beautiful.
Multi Tool goes anywhere and lasts all day.
There’s no right way and no wrong way.
It’s crazy powerful.
It’s magic.
You already know how to use it.

It’s already a revolution.
And it’s only just begun.

This week the Poptropica Creators are introducing a new island filled with cool gadgets (possibly called Steamworks Island?). Today’s update brings color to the Multi Tool we saw yesterday.

New island sneak peek week: The Multi Tool

Yesterday, we introduced a handy tool that you will need for the next Poptropica island, called the “Multi Tool.” I can imagine that you may be thinking, “Multi Tool?…Hmmm…It must be used for multiple tasks.”

It’s true that this device will do more than open a can of soup.

This is not the only tool you will need to make your way through the next Poptropica adventure. Tomorrow we will show you another inventory item that you are certain to have a blast using.

What do you think? What will Multi Tool do? What is this mysterious object’s secret? Is it a chainsaw that kills? o_0

PHB Sneak Peeks, Sneak Peeks, Steamworks Island

Uhhh, where’s the on switch?

The creators have confirmed a new island, but not its name. Some kind of machinery island, Mad Machine? Silly Structure? Extra-strange tool island?? O___O

New island sneak peek week!

Many of you have noticed that there is a new Poptropica island in the works. We’ve decided to share a few sneak peeks of this mysterious, mechanical island.

You’ll need a few gadgets to get past some tricky puzzles and wacky, wild monsters — and I’m not talking about your dad’s pocket knife.

Here are a couple of gizmos that you won’t find in your home toolbox. One of these will help you on your quest to victory, cheering fans, and instant popularity…well, at least victory.

“Multi Tool”? Hmm, what do you think it does?

Come back all week for more sneak peeks. Then, on Friday, we’ll announce the name of the new island. You’ll get it here first, so keep those eyeballs glued to the blog for more exciting peeks.

[CODERKID:

Hello guuuyyys! 😀 I’m here to save the Creators the trouble of posting on Friday…the new island is called “Steamworks”. Pretty spiffy name, eh?

The tools (yes I do notice that the font is blue) seem to be normal tools melded all together. -_o The multi tool looks like a drill, scissors and hair cutting thingamajigs. Number 2 seems to be a wrench, pressure meter and funnel on a wheel. O_o I have no idea what on earth, poptropica or pewter moon these tools will do, or why you will need them.

*Flies into clouds with BOLD BLUE ITALIC font, which is cooler than walking :D*

Skullduggery Island

That Extra Oomph

Hijuyo: Hewwo and welcome to the last installment of “Behind the Scenes of Skullduggery Island: The Phoenix Warbird.” Originally we were going to have a sailing expert – Captain Crawfish – tell us all about the process of designing the famous ship, but as you’ve probably noticed he’s not up for the task.
Cpt Crawfish: Juyo? I’m hearing you, but I can’t see a thing!
Hijuyo: Um, that’s because your eyeballs were eaten.
Cpt Crawfish: Well, this is gonna be the last epic Skullduggery Island informative session – so be nice. Let ME read MY OWN POST for once.
Hijuyo: I did let you read out “Skullduggery in Sketch” for the PHB, you know. You should be glad someone’s here to take over for you in case of emergencies – like being crowded, ripped, and eaten alive.
Cpt Crawfish: EXACTLY! I’M DYING HERE! D: AND YOU’RE NOT GOING TO HELP? =.= This is the best episode! There’s a video and everything! And I’m not able to read it out! AUGH!
Hijuyo: …whatever.

Behind the scenes of Skullduggery Island: The Phoenix Warbird, part five

With the colors and the scale of the Phoenix Warbird in place, it’s time for a few final tweaks to the design. For that extra “oomph,” the creators give the ship a set of fierce-looking talons.

And it’s done! Starting with one basic idea, the creators sketch out different possibilities, choose a direction, and then refine and improve the design until the final version you see here.

Here’s how it looks next to an actual Poptropican.

Huge, isn’t it?

And here’s a look at the Phoenix Warbird when it takes to the seas.

Pirates of Skullduggery Island, tremble in fear!

Quite a journey from concept to reality, huh? How far we’ve come:

Of course, seeing the Phoenix Warbird in pictures is one thing. Taking the helm of this mighty vessel is quite another.

Have you earned enough doubloons in Skullduggery Island to buy the Phoenix Warbird? If not, what are you waiting for? Play Skullduggery Island now!

Hijuyo: And that’s the end of “Behind the Scenes of Skullduggery Island”!
Cpt Crawfish: ZOMG NO WAI!!11!!1! YOU DIDN’T LET ME POST? WAHHHH… ;(
Hijuyo: OHMAI. Your pegleg was ripped away and your eyesight is already gone! What was I doing wasting my time reading your scripts?
Cpt Crawfish: EXACTLY! You were supposed to help meh!
Hijuyo: No… I should’ve been nomming on you – on the best part – the FILLET!
Cpt Crawfish: o_________0

(And with that, Hijuyo joins in with the others working on getting Captain Crawfish NOMMED!)

Random nommer: Mmm. That was nommilicious.
Random nommer 2: *burps*
Random nommer 3: Ah. A very satisfying meal indeed. Who do we eat next?
Random nommer 4: Well, as I like to say… there are plenty of fish in the sea! Plenty of people who will want to join the PHB, and then we’ll attack! WE’LL EAT THEM ALL!!

(The nommers cheer loudly and everyone looks at YOU.)

Skullduggery Island

A sprinkle of magic

Hijuyo: Herro! We’re back again, and today’s post is for Part 4 of Captain Crawfish’s “Behind the Scenes of Skullduggery Island: The Phoenix Warbird” presentation. Unfortunately (or fortunately? o__0), the captain is in quite a critical situation right now and isn’t available for…
Cpt Crawfish: JUYO! HELP!!
Hijuyo: 0__e
Cpt Crawfish: I SAID HELP!! THEY’RE GOING INSANE OVER HERE! THIS ONE GUY STOLE MAH “SWORD OF SKULLDUGGERY” AND TRIED TO KILL ME WITH IT!!
Hijuyo: …anyway. Where were we? Oh, Part 4. According to Captain’s papers, it should say:

Behind the scenes of Skullduggery Island: The Phoenix Warbird, part 4

You’ve already seen how the mighty Phoenix Warbird started life as a simple pencil sketch. (Wait, you haven’t? Check out the first part of our behind-the-scenes look at Skullduggery Island.)

The creators worked hard to get the details right, and now it’s time to give the Phoenix Warbird a sprinkling of that old Poptropica magic.

The designers color in the black-and-white outline they made earlier. They create a simple background of water and sky to demonstrate how the ship will appear in Skullduggery Island. And, as before, they add a little reference box that shows how big the Warbird is compared to a Poptropican.

The Phoenix Warbird is almost ready to set sail on Skullduggery Island!

Cpt Crawfish: Are you quite finished yet?! That’s MY speech, and I should be the one reading it! You plagiarizer! SUE!!
Hijuyo: Is it my fault that you’re currently being eaten alive?
Cpt Crawfish: Yes! No! I don’t know! Just save my life, Juyo!
Hijuyo: But, Captain Crawfish…

(Upon hearing the word ‘crawfish’, a third wave of Poptropicans run over to where the captain is already half-eaten by other moochers, and everyone happily noms him.)

Cpt Crawfish: :O WTH! That’s the third time you’ve done that, HJY! You don’t want me here to speak; I’m just your snack, hmm?
Hijuyo: Mebbe. :3

(An unexpectedly loud “RIIIIIP” is heard, an even louder scream from Captain Crawfish, followed by even louder than ‘even louder’ sounds of glee.)

Random nommer: Omg, guys! I GOT HIS EYEPATCH OFF!! YEAHHHHH!
Random nommer 2: Where’s the eye? o_o
Random nommer 3: Iono. Just looks like a swollen, bloody ‘rotten eye’ to me.
All nommers: EAT! EAT! EAT! *everyone dives in and fights for the eye* OMNOMNOM
Cpt Crawfish: STOP! STOP! GET YOUR FILTHY FINGERS OFF OF ME FACE, YOU [CENSORED] CANNIBALS!
Random nommer: I’ll be keeping the eyepatch!
Cpt Crawfish: Juyo, you’ll be responsible for my death! Charged with murder! How’s that, huh? Juyo? JUYO…?

Skullduggery Island

In black and white

Hijuyo: Me again. Where we last left off, our guest speaker – Captain Crawfish – was almost eaten alive! *grabs page that someone almost ate* This must be the third part of his speech in ‘Behind the scenes of Skullduggery Island’:

Behind the scenes of Skullduggery Island: The Phoenix Warbird, part 3

Poptropica fans already know that the Phoenix Warbird is the strongest ship on Skullduggery Island. But it didn’t always look that way! The designers went through several rounds of revisions, tweaking existing ideas and coming up with new ones.

Finally, they had settled on the basic design and set to work putting it into Poptropica. The first step: a black-and-white wireframe, which adapts the earlier sketches into the Poptropica style.

See that little box above the ship and to the right? That’s to help the designers remember how large the ship is in comparison to your Poptropican.

The ship isn’t finished yet. There are more design tweaks to be made, not to mention the most fun part: Coloring!

Hijuyo: Neat!
Cpt Crawfish: HEY! Are you going to help me here?!?!
Hijuyo: Crawfish, I…

(At the mention of the name of this tasty delicacy, another wave of audience members surrounds the captain and noms, finally taking his false leg off.)

Hijuyo: This is madness!
Random nommer: No, this is SPAAARTAAAA!!
Random nommer 2: NO, THIS IS PATRICK!!!
Cpt Crawfish: Just… stop… chewing… AUGHHH! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING WITH MY SWORD!?! DON’T POINT IT AT ME!! AND DON’T YOU DARE CHOP ME INTO SLICES…!!

Hijuyo: …and if you thought that was insanely cool, check out MonkeyTacoz’s PARTY WITH HOBOS, a popular “User TV” show broadcasting also on the Poptropica Help Forums! Chaos and humor are always a great combination. 😀
