Racing the Pirates

Racing… or erasing? The latest sneak peek from the Creators shows someone using an oversized pencil, trying to rub out Dragon Cove on Skullduggery Island. But why?

Looks like someone is attempting to rub out Poptropica as we know it. But you’re not going to let that happen, are you?

You can click the image for a better view. Even the character seems different… and the eyes aren’t on top of his head, like a regular Poptropican’s! He’s wearing orange goggles, a lab coat (?), maroon gloves and boots (wow, footwear! that’s pretty rare on Poptropica). 😛 What’s going on?

Maybe this has something to do with the Daily Pops featuring the paintings Starry Night or Water Lilies, the latter of which was vandalized, possibly by the Black Widow. Or perhaps, as PHB reader Poptropicaddict speculates, this may have something to do with the upcoming book Pencil Warrior.

Before the pirates get rubbed out, here’s a video walkthrough for the new advertisement game, Pirates: Band of Misfits, by Loud Shark. 😀

Prizes are Pirate Costume, Polly Follower, and Cannon Power. Arrr!

ParaNorman and the paranormal

There is a new advertisement game building for ParaNorman, an upcoming 3D stop-motion adventure film about a boy who can speak with the dead and takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from an old curse.

(Thanks to SnowBall for the picture!)

The ad can be found on Main Street of islands such as Wimpy Boardwalk. Click here for a video walkthrough from Loud Shark.

Fuzzy-B provided the following description of what you need to do and a snapshot of the prizes below:

When you walk in talk to Norman. He says that he has a problem, that the dead are rising from their graves! He then says to talk to his friend Neil. After you talk to Neil you start the game. You have to click to dig holes to “return zombies to the ground” so they don’t reach the archive building.

There is a maze of graves that zombies walk through, but the catch is that you can’t dig a hole in the same spot twice, so the zombies make a safe path to walk on (also zombies see holes coming and don’t go that way, so dig the holes as close as you can to the zombies). Once all of the zombies are reburied you win the prizes, Special Zombie Power and Bub Follower. Here is a photo.

Zombies, wanted dead or alive… or just undead.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot…

…nothing is going to get better.” -Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

There’s a new ad game in Thneedville Poptropica’s Main Streets, because The Lorax is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray this August 2012! Thanks to Fuzzy-B for the notification and prize pics, and Brandon C. for the video walkthrough:

The Once-ler and a Bar-ba-loot are riding down the river in a bed (even though this was the Lorax’s fault, he’s calling for help! haha), and you’ve got to save them. Run to stay ahead of the floating bed and reach the branch in time to save the Once-ler! Be sure to avoid obstacles on the way.

Prizes are Truffula Tree Hair and Marshmallow Rain.

How bad can it possibly be? 🙂

Here come the Dog Days

There’s a new big advertisement game in Poptropica, and it’s for none other than Poptropica creator Jeff Kinney’s upcoming Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, Dog Days!

This YouTube walkthrough from InsidersNetwork shows you all you need to do to win FOUR great prizes: Fruit Smoothie (Hand Item), Fregley’s Bandaid Costume, Soggy Cell Phone, and Dog Bowl.

  1. Fruit Smoothie: from Snack Bar Waiter, a waiter serving game much like the Mystery Train pre-island-release minigame
  2. Fregley’s Bandaid Costume: from the Perfect Splash game a bit like the Diving event from the Poptropolis Games
  3. Soggy Cell Phone: from the Water Ball Bounce, a beach volleyball game played in the pool
  4. Dog Bowl: from Ice Cream Balance, where you’ll need to bring the ice cream safely to Greg!

Looking forward to the Dog Days movie? It comes out on August 3rd! Click here to watch the trailer.

Have fun & enjoy the prizes!

Ice Age Continental Drift

If you go onto the Map in Poptropica, you might notice something new.  Well, two new things, actually.  The first new thing is this:

The Creators have added Wimpy Boardwalk to the Map!  It’s obviously not out yet, but maybe that’s a sign that it’s going to come out soon!  …Maybe?

Anyway, the second new thing that you might notice is a certain iceberg floating around on the bottom of the map.

It’s an ad for the new Ice Age movie!

Click on the little iceberg to enter the ad.

When you enter the ad you’ll see this to the left:

If you click on it, an icon will appear next to your items.

If you click on the icon, you’ll be brought to a page where you’re able to see previews, a list of the characters, the story line, things like that.

There’s a sign that’s shaped like an arrow next to the notifier thing.

Go to the left and a monkey named Captain Gutt will tell you this:

This page will pop up:

The page says “Select A Game”, when it should say “Select The Game”, cause the game called Granny’s Bath isn’t available for you to play until July 2nd.  Which is fine by me; Granny’s Bath doesn’t sound like a very…appealing game anyway.

The game that you can play is called Escape from Captain Gutt.  This game is really easy.  What you do is you sail your iceberg, following the arrow of a compass.  The arrow points to your home.  The iceberg’s controls are exactly the same as the ones for your boats in Skullduggery Island, which makes it that much easier.  Basically just point your cursor in the direction that you want to go and click to fire what they say are cannonballs, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they’re actually snowballs.  Just try to avoid hitting other icebergs, running into sea crabs, and getting fired at by pirate ships.  Oh, and, obviously, Manny doesn’t understand that someone shouting things at you while you’re trying to sail is very distracting.  So, just try to ignore him.

Once you beat the game, you get two items.

The first item is a Badger Pirate Flag.

The second item is a Dodo Follower.

When you’re done with the game, go to the right and you’ll see a trailer that you can watch if you want to.

Keep going right, and you’ll see another sign shaped like an arrow.

Follow the sign, and go to the right.

Go to the right and up a little bit and you will find yourself in front of the ScrArcade.

If you go inside you’ll get to see some trailers.  There’s also a spot where you can download some wallpapers.

If you go to the right you’ll see another arrow sign.  They must really like arrows…

This thing is so important that it needed two signs, the second one (which is a little bit to the right of the first one) is even decked out with a disco ball.

Sid is standing to the right of this purty sign.  Talk to him.  Your conversation will go as follows:

(Bit melodramatic, don’t you think?)

The dancing game is really easy, as well.  It’s one of those memorization games that you see all the time.  A letter will get a glow around it, and you have to press that same letter on your keyboard.  Then it’ll be two letters, then three letters, and so on.

Once you beat the game you’ll get two more prizes.

The first prize is the Granny Costume.

The second item is the Acorn Costume.

Edit: Thanks to Tough Spider for letting me know that the boys’ prize for the Dance with Sid game is a Sid Costume instead of the Granny Costume.  Here’s a picture of it:

Well, that’s about it.

Since I can’t think of any other way to end this boring post, and since I’m sort of obsessed with these Brave motion graph things that I found on Brave’s website…

If you haven’t seen Brave yet, you should see it for two reasons.

One: cause it’s so hilarious you’ll laugh so hard that you’ll start crying.

Two: cause I told you so. 😉
