Great Pumpkin Island, Sneak Peeks

Silent pumpkins, chatty Charlie

TODAY, you can meet the famous Charlie Brown on Poptropica! Just head over to the unfinished Great Pumpkin Island on the Map – he and Linus will be waiting for you! (Well, actually, Linus is waiting for the Great Pumpkin to visit for Halloween.)

If a pumpkin grows in an empty patch…

…does it make a sound?

Well, I’m not sure if any growing pumpkin makes a sound. But I do know that it’d be a shame to leave the Great Pumpkin Island pumpkin patch empty this week. Those pumpkins are starting to grow, all right. And now, if you visit you can talk to another PEANUTS character!

That’s right, good ol’ Charlie Brown is in the pumpkin patch with Linus, and he’s got plenty to say. Head over to Poptropica and take a look!

SHARK BOY

According to Charlie, they’re waiting for the Great Pumpkin to choose the pumpkin patch they are on – which is already starting to fill up with pumpkins! Although you may not believe in the Great Pumpkin’s existence, Charlie will tell you that the only thing more unlikely than the Great Pumpkin visiting… is convincing Linus that it doesn’t exist. What do you think? Will the Great Pumpkin make an appearance?

Steamworks Island

Falling up

Hijuyo: Wait, what? Falling up? Is that even possible?
Cpt Crawfish: Of course!
Hijuyo: CRAWFISH! YOU’RE BACK! I THOUGHT YOU’D BEEN NOMMED! O:
Cpt Crawfish: No, no, that was Captain Crawfish I. I’m Captain Crawfish II.
Hijuyo: …whatever. So, sup Crawfish?
Cpt Crawfish: Oooh! Oooh! I went to Steamworks Island and—
Hijuyo: You went there?! You’re a member? You moneywaster! D:<
Cpt Crawfish: No, NO! I’m a Creator!
Hijuyo: …oh. Well, what did you do there?
Cpt Crawfish: Oooh! There were these cool airflow thingies and it was epic! I got it all down on the second part of my travelogue:

Captain Crawfish’s Steamworks Island travelogue, part 2

All right, has everybody had something to eat? Checked your email? Gone to the bathroom? I want to make sure you’re all paying attention. It cost me a lot of money to have these pictures developed.

After having my fun with the nuts and bolts of Steamworks Island, next I happened upon some sort of massive, upward-blowing fan. Strange — why was this functioning was so much of the machinery on the Island was rusted and useless?

No matter. When you come across airflow like this, you’ve got to ride the slipstream.

The wind rocketed me into the air!

These things are all over the place on Steamworks Island. You can really catch some air. You can probably use them to complete the quest, too, but why rush?

Cpt Crawfish: IKR?! Oooh, and if you missed it, check out Part 1 of my stupendous travelogue! You gotta hear all about the elevating screw-thingies!
Hijuyo: Yeah! That’s the post with Coderkid’s poll-thingy! Don’t forget to click there!
Cpt Crawfish: Stop stealing the show! D:<
Hijuyo: Okai, back on topic. Steamworks Island will open to all players on September 9th! Yeyy! 😀

Steamworks Island

~—~

Continuing Binary Bard’s new friendship with the strange sprocket from the upcoming Steamworks Island, he tried some different approaches…

Getting to know you

The robot and I eyed one another warily. It seemed we were each waiting for the other to make the first move. After a few moments of awkward silence, I attempted to break the ice with a joke.

“Why was six afraid of seven?” I asked.

(Dramatic pause.)

“Because seven eight nine!”

Success! The robot grinned. Clearly he was programmed to understand humor. Maybe he was capable of other emotions, as well.

Perhaps this little robot would be impressed, or even moved, by the arts. I don’t often admit this, but I’ve got something of a background in dance (three years of jazz, six years of modern). Hoping to entrance the robot with my charm and grace, I busted out some acrobatic maneuvers, finishing with a flurry of high-leg kicks.

Not exactly the reaction I was hoping for.

Pride got the better of me. “I’d like to see you do better!” I huffed. “Stupid robot.”

And then, well — the robot did something better.

It’s a nice robot and all, but don’t forget that it has feelings too – and you don’t want to hurt it!
