The Top 5 Best Common Rooms

These days, Poptropica common rooms don’t get as much attention as they used to — but we’ve been missing out on a lot recently. The recent common rooms are awesome! Here are my top 5 best common rooms to date! 😀

5. Bananabee’s — Night Watch Island

This is a resturaunt spin off of Applebees, a popular classy restaurant. Poptropica once had a kids meal pamphlet that came with the meal featured at Applebees. I still have mine. ^-^

This common room has multiple tables and chairs, each with a dish of food sitting on it. It’s perfect for chatting, and on the top floor is a game room. It’s all very ritzy (as Applebee’s is), and has a nice feel to it. The attention to detail is very nicely done.

4. You Know the Drill Eatery — Super Villain Island

This common room has many key features that make it unique. The specials are sea cucumbers and burritos, there is a poster advertising the island’s villain, Dr Jupiter (also known as Zeus), and the name is just awesome! It has an oil rig theme, and a skyline view from the second floor. Some parts of it are new and modern, while others are not — it’s a great mixture, and creates a great environment!

3. The Hair Club — Spy Island

This common room’s outer building is shaped like a giant hair spray bottle and giant comb on the side. You can spray the giant hair spray bottle by jumping on the cap! 😛

Inside, it’s themed like a 1930s barber shop, with a jukebox, stage, and milk shakes sitting on nearly every table. It also has lights on the top floor. This is a timeless (though based on a time period) classic common room — it’s worth visiting! 😀

2. Celebrity Wax Museum — Backlot Island

This common room is just amazing. It features four wax celebrities; Elvis, Groucho Marx, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. Each of the celebrities are drawn, and Groucho Marx’s eyes follow your cursor, and he winks! I love this room for it’s artwork and creativity.

1. Party Time Tower — Time Tangled Island

This common room, when you’re talking about parties, has it all! It has balloons, a bubble machine, a huge birthday cake, more balloons, and a big clock — which doesn’t really go with the theme, but then again, it’s in Time Tangled Island.

This was released with Time Tangled Island as the third common room. It’s one of the biggest when you look at the outside of the building. It all has a special place in our hearts, and it’s the best place to be when Poptropica’s birthday comes around. 😉

We’ve progressed, my minions. There have been over 80 portraits drawn. We are nearing 100… 😉 I haven’t finished all the Portraits for this round yet, check back soon to see the rest. I hope everyone is satisfied with their portrait! 😀 If you don’t see yours in there, just tell me in the comments. I’m only taking up to 20 requests this round (yes, 20!). The request limit may differ between rounds, but requests made after the quota (20) will be disregarded. Remember, these portraits are Gravatar friendly, and make great Gravatars! 😛 Also, for you fellow designers who would like an extra, transparent (no background or text) copy of your portrait(s), just request in the comments. 🙂

How to Save Your Poptropican Portrait

  • You might not have known this, but if your click on the portrait in the gallery, it will maximize and you can see/save it in full quality.
  • After you right click on the maximized portrait and click “Save image as…”, save it to a folder in your computer.
  • You can then go to the Gravatar website and sign in with your WordPress account.
  • Add the photo to your Gravatar, and your done! A high quality perfectly shaped portrait! 😛

Want Your Own Portrait?

Follow the criteria below! 😀

  • This is how the system works: you leave requests on the post that has the portraits that were requested last week. I will only take requests that are left on the latest portrait post.
  • Requests must be made by the owner of the account. I really would like if people would stop requesting portraits for their friends; if the friends really want them enough, they can come on here and request them.
  • I must have either a username or a link to the Avatar Studio included in the request. Otherwise, I will have to use a low quality photo from somewhere on the web, which makes the colors different from the actual character.
  • No requesting two times for the same character unless it’s a specialty. Sometimes, I will make another one, because I wasn’t pleased with it. Please tell me in the comments how you liked your portrait! If you are not pleased, I am very sorry.
  • Keep in mind that I need you to keep the outfit that you want to be drawn from the time that you request it to the time that it is published. Otherwise, I will draw something you may not have been expecting! So please keep that in mind.
  • I won’t accept glitch accounts anymore if it’s not your main account. I’ll still accept minor accounts, just not if they’re loaded with glitches. They’re difficult to draw, and most of the time the items are from advertisements, which I don’t enjoy drawing…
  • I’d really appreciate it if you would use the original portrait and not crop out my signature. I work hard on these, and if you could, please do use the original photo.

Survival Island

More on “Survival Island”!

The Creators just announced the next Poptropica Island — Survival Island! Of course, we already knew what it was, but the newest post from the PCB reveals their newest plans for island — Episodes! This means more play, more often, as we’ll be playing new chapters as they become available!

They’ll be releasing three episodes for Survival at different times, the first being Crash Landing, and it’s different than any other experience before! The first chapter will be released to Poptropica Members on the 20th of March (this month), so expect multiple posts from the PHB until then. 😀

off-topic alert: Change of plans concerning the Poptropican Portrait Livestream March 2014, we’re changing the time from 6:00 EST to 7:00 EST. I’m sorry if you won’t be able to make it. Also, Samwow5 will be about 30 minutes late, so just keep that in mind. c;

Anywho, there are a lot of things we need to go over concerning Survival Island and now Deep Dive Island. Survival and Deep Dive are definitely broken into three parts now, and all I can say is — each of these parts look like they will be as big and long as a regular island.

I didn’t say like a regular island. I said just as long. These islands look more like obstacle courses, with challenging/frightening places that you have to get past. In Survival Island, your blimp crashes in the wilderness, but we don’t know the plot of Deep Dive yet.

I’ve uncovered the creepy main theme for Survival Island on the Behind the Scenes page along with multiple other new tunes, but here’s the theme just for a taste:

You will be facing many different challenges– broken trees, owls, and a scary monster… maybe a bear? You will need to assemble multiple pages out of a handbook, those pages being the mystical ones we’ve been pondering about from the Daily Pop.

We’ve been forgetting about something that has happened long before any note of this Survival Island — Reality TV Island. Before the cheaply made mini game filled island came out, it was rumored to be a huge survival camp island, with mountains, awesome animals, food from the wild, and more. Perhaps they’re fulfilling their unfulfilled island in Survival Island. After all, RTV was based on Survivor!

And, since there is a backstory to cover, I’ll be releasing a series of posts called The Survival Island Files. Sound familiar? 😛 I’ll be going over the many elements that may be showing up in the Survival series. I’ll be posting them up until the release. Beware of the forest — many things await. 😉

Survival & Deep Dive: the next Poptropica Island(s)?

EDIT #3: Along with Wind Power, there’s also a Ghillie Suit waiting to be released! And if that wasn’t enough, Survival Island + Deep Dive Island are now split apart into 3 parts on the SUI list! The second episode for Survival will be “Hook, Line, and Sinker“. Fishy? :3

EDIT #2: The Wind Power item is now gone! All we have left of the memory is this picture… or not! 😛

EDIT #1: A “Wind Power” members only card has been added to the store (thanks Squeezy Wing for the initial update), along with an empty slot where a card should be. I can’t seem to buy or use the card — how about you? These aren’t just the normal gold cards — they’re for an island (or an episode), as listed at the top of the card:

Survival – Episode 1? Things are starting to get interesting! 😀 By the looks of the card graphic, it seems like this is related to those winterscapes from the Daily Pop. Check back on this post to get the latest news.

Anyway, I’ve got two new pieces of oh-so-valuable information — the names of the upcoming islands!

The first island may have been the one who won the Dream Island Contest, but perhaps not, since they only decided the island last Friday. The fish/survival camp Daily Pops have been appearing much sooner than that — but nonetheless, Fuzzy-B was right! Without further ado, I bring you Survival Island and Deep Dive Island!

How do you know?! It’s all in the files! Listed along with upcoming SUIs like Mythology Island are the names Survival and Deep Dive. Strangely, the urls “survivalisland.com” and “deepdiveisland.com” do not redirect to Poptropica — perhaps they haven’t purchased them yet?

Even more is revealed about Survival Island. It looks somewhat like a fetch quest, where you have to find and assemble a handbook, build a fire, and push a boulder. The items in the island include an Ax Handle, Dry Kindling, Flint, a Handbook, Logs, Mittens, a Nest, a Striker, and some Wet Kindling… this seems quite vague for a full island. What are the odds that this is just a Mini-Quest?

Something about the story is obvious — there is a crash landing that leaves you stranded in the wilderness. The picture below is from the actual code… what could have gone wrong?

Gretchen Grimlock comes to mind, but in all seriousness, what are these? They don’t seem to have a Main Street, they have no island urls, and they seem very short. Survival Island anyway. Are they just Mini-Quests? Only time will tell. More about the islands in posts to come.

It’s decided — along with the March issue of the Poptropican’s 911, the Poptropican Portraits Livestream March 2014 is going to be broadcasted this Saturday! And if that isn’t enough, I’m also releasing the 9th round of Poptropican Portraits on Saturday. 😀

The livestream will be hosted 7pm EST / 6pm CST 6pm EST / 5pm CST. The recording will be available to everyone via this post, so check back when the time comes. Along with Samwow5, I’m going to have even more special guests! You’ll have to tune in to find out who. 😉 Watch the recorded livestream below! ^-^

If you want to be drawn in the livestream, send your username to [email protected]. I will then draw one username from a hat, and that person will be drawn live! So start entering! 😀
