(Continued from Prologue)
ANNA: “Ma’am, please let me come inside. I have found the mystery.”
Now that she had found the mystery, Anna was more serious.
BAKER: “I already told you. I haven’t seen anything but bread.”
ANNA: “But I’ve seen more than bread. I’ve seen a mystery and bread! So, please let me in.”
BAKER: “Fine. The doors are at the back. Just don’t be cheerful.”
Anna walked to the back door and stepped inside the dull bakery. She saw millions of crates, all labeled different things. Some said “grey food colouring.” Some said “grey paint” (the shop had been created by people from Goofside, so the baker had to paint it grey). Finally, Anna found the one that said “ingredients.”
ANNA: “Mind if I investigate?”
BAKER: “Go ahead. You probably won’t find anything but supplies.”
Anna opened the crate. She found the ingredients to bake the bread.
ANNA: “Please show me how you make the bread.”
BAKER: “Fine.”
The baker reached into the ingredients crate and pulled out a thick, round rock. Anna knocked on it, but it was as hard as a diamond.
BAKER: “You take this rock, bake it for five minutes, and then you have your grey bread.”
ANNA: “Mind if I get you a new recipe?”
BAKER: “Whatever. Make it grey, though.”
Anna grabbed a crate marked “grey food colouring.”
ANNA: “Be right back!”
BAKER: “Whatever.”
Anna dashed out of the Dusty Crust Bakery, down Main Street and over to Fry’s Fried Freds on Goofside.
FRED: “Hello Anna! Would you like a flying Fred? Or maybe a zippy Fred? But you could also want a fiery Fred…”
ANNA: “Fred, I don’t want food! I want the softest part of your bread!”
Fred handed Anna the part of bread she was talking about.
FRED: “This part of my bread is called…”
But Anna didn’t hear the rest because she had already dashed off back to the Dusty Crust Bakery. Anna continued her dash inside the bakery, and handed the baker whatever was in her hand.
ANNA: “I would like one piece of bread made with this, please.”
BAKER: “Wait outside.”
Anna strolled outside of the bakery and over to its window.
BAKER: “Your bread is ready.”
Anna took the bread, and happily ate the whole thing.
ANNA: “Case of the opposite of normal bread, closed!”
