Placing Poptropica on Roblox’s Map ðŸĶĒ🗚

Good morning, gamers (or whatever time it is) — straight from Pop!

But maybe not just Pop. The Creators’ Blog just announced something major: Poptropica is releasing a Roblox game! And here’s a sneak peek:

Now what could this be? Our theory is that this looks a lot like Monster Carnival Island, with its dark mystical aura and swan boat reminiscent of the one inside the Tunnel of Love where you spoil a moment with two teenaged lovers. However, this will be neither an island nor quest.

Still, it will be “based on a fan-favorite island,” which could mean an off-shoot of Monster Carnival or something else. It’s certainly interesting that Poptropica is expanding into Roblox, a kids’ virtual world which nowadays has many more active players than Pop, and it’s possible Pop is trying to tap into this audience.

But we also can’t help but wonder about the implications of Pop building on another game — thereby focusing fewer resources on their own game. (Old islands, when?)

More news will be coming in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Poptropica recently tweeted a little activity titled “design your dream Poptropica map,” lined with icons of old islands and ranked with dollar amounts ranging from $1–5. The challenge is to fit your faves on an imaginary map with just $20 — which ones will make the cut?

Could this be a sign that Poptropica is taking player feedback on which of the more popular classics to bring back, or are they just playing with our hopes again? Is their pulse correct on which islands are considered more valuable? That’s all up for debate, but at any rate, it’s another critical hit for all the nostalgic players out there.

Odd memes with IRL crossovers continue on Twitter, with one on Wheel of Fortune hinting at Tessa Turncoat from PoptropiCon, and another on Dr. Hare-like costumed cyclists going wild:

Also on Twitter, Poptropica has been sharing some pretty cool fan art. Take a look!

Over on Instagram, Poptropica shared on their story a page of fan art doodles as well as a Pop poll on favorite characters. Check ’em out:

That wraps up this update. What do you think of the upcoming Roblox debut? What islands are on your dream Poptropica map? How did Dr. Hare break the fourth wall? Share with us in the comments below!

  1. It amazes me that the Poptropica team feels that it is efficient for them to be investing their time and efforts into making a Roblox game, rather than utilizing that time and energy to port the old islands onto their new platform. I think I speak for all of us when I say that the players want the return of those islands, or perhaps even new islands (although their standards seem to befall those of the older islands quite a bit) rather than a Poptropica-esque Roblox game. The thought behind this decision doesn’t quite get to me. Do they think they benefit from making Poptropica players play another game to experience the “Poptropica” feeling? Does this decision make even the slightest of sense?

  2. I’m kind of disappointed, honestly. Poptropica is supposed to be subtle charming little game. Now they’re moving on to Roblox already? I’m confused because they claim to be working hard on the old islands, but if that were true, why would they work on other stuff. Did the Backspace music video mean anything to them? They said they loved it, but they didn’t even take the hint.

I also really don’t like how they put that worksheet on Twitter. Honestly, how insensitive do you have to be to ignore it when everyone begs for old islands back, then shove in our faces all the islands they refuse to bring back and have us decide which ones are our favorite? That’s just plain mean. I can’t believe the creators have turned into these… these monsters.

Ay ay ay. I can only hope things get better.

    1. Like they said they have different departments. Some on new islands some on old islands some on like everything. Even I want the old classics back but we also have to look at how they need to get more players and how they spent their time to work for us. All I gotta say. ✌ïļ
Oh also P.S. Roblox is more popular so they need to get going in different platforms.

      1. This is true, you’re right. I’m just hoping the creators can move on from small quests and get to old islands soon

      2. I have to agree strongly with you on this one.
Looking at there teasers it seems like there hinting something!
