Hey Pridetropicans!

Perhaps you’ve heard that June is Pride Month, a celebration of the world’s LGBT population. In many places IRL, pride parades are taking place, and here at the PHB, we thought we’d bring the high spirits to Poptropica as well. So, we’re throwing a Poptropica Pride Party, and you’re invited!

  • 🤓️ WHO: Everyone – you don’t have to identify as LGBT! PHB staff will be there too!
  • 🎉 WHAT: Multiverse parties on Poptropica and lively chat on the PHC. Though there’s an emphasis on LGBT pride, the conversation can wander. Like a real-life pride parade, we recommend you dress your character up in rainbow colors and outlandish fun gear!
  • 🕒 WHEN: June 29, 2017 (Thursday) @ 3 p.m. Eastern / 2 p.m. Central / 1 p.m. Mountain / 12 p.m. Pacific (If you do not live in any of these time zones, use a time converter to find out what time it will be in your area! In some places, it may be Friday morning.) As with all PHB parties, feel free to pop in and out whenever. Parties tend to go on for a few hours, so it’s okay to be “fashionably late”!
  • 🎈 WHERE: The Poptropica Help Chat hangout, a Discord chat server better known as the PHC – link is discord.me/thePHC. The chat is moderated and safe for kids.
  • 🏳️‍🌈  WHY: To promote human dignity – more on that below.

LGBT stands for people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and because such identities are not always accepted in society, LGBTs often face struggles such as discrimination. Fortunately, the Poptropica community is generally kind to those who identify as LGBT.

We also recognize that the topics involved are controversial and multifaceted. It is not our purpose in organizing this event to push any agenda, save for one which we hope all can agree with: that every human being, regardless of any area of their identity, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

If you agree, we hope to see you at Poptropica’s first ever Pride Party! 🏳️‍🌈

  3. Cool! Even if I don’t know if I’ll be lgbt or not, I deeply support lgbtq+, so I like the concept of this multiverse!

  6. Interesting. I’m probably not gonna make it. (since when do I ever make it to parties anyways? XD ) Anyways, that’s probably for the best since I’m a straight teenage girl who gets way too confused by all this anyways. But I hope everyone enjoys the party!

    1. Sorry you’re not able to make it! 😦 Well, it’s true that there are a lot of debates and questions floating around about “all this,” but we’re not here to argue any of it. We just want to promote the notion that all people, especially those who are facing struggles in society (like LGBTs) should be shown kindness.

    1. Let alone how limited you are to costumizing. 😐 (hopefully we get more stuff like the samurai outfit or the sky hawk suit, and maybe eventually the costume contest winner outfit.)

  8. I should be able to make it! Instead of discriminating or looking down on those who are different is unacceptable, and I am proud to live in an area where people are proud to be who they are and where others support them. If you are unsure about wether to come, it doesn’t Necessarily mean you are apart of the LGBTQ, but you are a supporter of the community, and you should try to attend!

    1. I think I can make it, but you guys’ country is lucky that being LGBT+ is acceptable, here there is a rule against it. Anyway, I do want to make it (even though I’m straight), I believe the fact that we shouldn’t discriminate anyone, we are all humans (and some Poptropicans) #LoveIsLove

  17. I feel as if having a LGBT celebration on Poptropica would be weird and odd. Im not saying anything rude about the LGBT community I’m just saying the younger audience would probably not really understand about this stuff. I mean Poptropica’s community is pretty much populated by kids. LGBT is quite a serious topic especially in generation

    1. Kind of, I suppose. The part of the Poptropica community that goes on blogs and social media is usually older kids, generally 11 years or older. Of course there is more nuance to these topics than the brief explanation given in the post, but this should be sufficient for this party, at least.

      As you say, it’s a serious topic of the current generation, so people will have to engage with it at some point. If this is someone’s first exposure, it would be good to have it seen in a positive light, and hopefully this event can do that for them.

  21. I wasn’t able to make it.
    I don’t support LGBTQ and I won’t ever turn out that way, but I believe everyone should be treated equally, not matter who they love. If you don’t like this, just don’t support it. It’s your opinion. We are all equal, and I’m just going to say, if we’re all equal, then why should we give those who love differently a special name?

    1. We give things different names to differentiate one from the other. Yes, we’re all equal in that we’re humans. But within the human species, we’re a very diverse group. 😉
