Hellos & Goodbyes

A Farewell Story of Me.

Wow, been a long time since I’ve posted on here..

Hey guys, hope you still remember me, as GA or as Hicoga.

Yeah, I’m leaving the blog, which probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering that I’ve been dormant on here for the past year.

Now don’t think this means I’m leaving, leaving. You can find me all the time on the PHB chat. ( xat.com/thephc ) I’m really not going anywhere I just think that it isn’t very fair for me to hog up one of the spots on here when I don’t even really care about poptropica anymore.

Although if Juyo wanted to make this the Poptropica/Minecraft Help Blog I’d be all for it. 😉

Now I don’t want this to be just like any old farewell post. I’m going to let you all join me while I reminisce about my time here at the PHB.

“Crowd Groans”

So sit down, grab some popcorn, and enjoy.

It all started at school in 5th grade when my friend Mark told me about this new game he’d found on the internet. So I thought I’d try it out and logged on to “Poptropica.com”. I made a character named Golden Axe and played around for a bit in this new virtual world. Poptropica had just opened up about 1 year prior.

I beat all the islands and soon became bored with the game after about a week. I started searching for hidden things around the islands and on the internet. Of course, I eventually found the Poptropica Help Blog. At the time I had no clue I would one day be part of the site.

My favorite author at the time was Codien and he held this contest in one of his posts to get a beard added to your poptropican. I entered the contest and actually ended up being selected as one of the winners. He said the beard would be added to your character about a week afterward and so I waited. A week went by, no beard. Two weeks, Three weeks, and then I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I eMailed Hijuyo about my conflict and she was very helpful and got me my coveted beard. After that, we kept eMailing back and forth and soon became friends.

Well, the rest is history.

Thank you to everyone on here and I hope this blog stays successful for years and years to come.

And by the way, going back to what I said earlier, I am starting up a Minecraft blog called “The Daily Block” Check it out by clicking the picture below.

  1. Everyone’s leaving

Hicoga: But not leaving, leaving. Won’t be any different than before. Didn’t post then, won’t post now. I’ll still be here in the community and on the PHC Chat.

  2. Why are u leaving again

Hicoga: What do you mean leaving again? I never left before, at least not formally.

  3. You guys are dropping like flies. If everyone leaves you should have a contest and give the site to a younger generation (10-12 maybe). But lets hope that doesn’t have to happen.

Hicoga: That sounds like a great plan! *whispers* If you want the blog to go up in flames…

  4. Hope I’ll still see you around on the PHC, GA. You were a great PHB author! D:

    That’s a pretty cool story though. 😀

  5. Man, all of my favorite creators. Gone. Left. And the only original keeps changing his/her name every year.

Good luck, PHB or formerly STB (Scary Tomato’s Blog)

    1. Well, I’m glad you at least liked some of the authors. It’s sad they’ve had to leave, but it has to happen someday…

Also, I know I’ve gone through a few name changes (Scary Tomato/Hijuyo/Slanted Fish), and the only big explanation is that I didn’t like it anymore, so I apologize if it confused you. Hopefully I won’t be changing it more.

Thanks for the good luck. The thing about Poptropica names is that they can repeat because of the structure, so there could be other Scary Tomatoes out there. Codien came up with “Poptropica Help Blog” (PHB) when he first started making graphics for us and I think it works much better. 🙂

    2. Ebony Rider thanks you for the clearing up of the name change. Also, have you thought of your retirement? I have thought about that ever since Codien left. If you leave, does the Help Blog just shut down or are you passing it on to someone else?

      1. My retirement? I’m guessing since I’m the admin/founder of the blog, that I’d just stay on the list but look out for other authors who’d continue keeping the blog alive. But if you’re worried that the Help Blog becomes inactive, I’d still leave it up here because of all the visitors it gets daily who might just be here for an island guide or something. Better for them to still be able to view it than to get an error message that the blog no longer exists. There’s no need to erase all the effort put into this site.

What's popping, Poptropicans?
