Astro-Knights Island, Sneak Peeks

Poptropica is… a planet?!

~Poptropica Help Blog Investigation~
Is Poptropica a planet?

The Poptropica map simply shows a bunch of islands laid out together, making Poptropica seem flat. But whether it really is flat or not is another question.

For those of you who have completed the Nabooti quest, you’ve probably learned that the secret of the Nabooti tribe’s totem is… space travel! At the time of Nabooti Island’s release, it seemed pretty strange to most of us why the Creators would include space travel into an island that didn’t use much technology – other than a few computers and such here and there. But with Astro-Knights to look forward to, I’ve been wondering whether Nabooti’s space travel may be relevant to the upcoming AK Island, seeing as that includes space travelling too. Grumpy Tomato, one of PHB’s readers, thinks that Astro-Knight’s plot might be a sequel to Nabooti’s! He shares:

Think about it – the space ship on the most recent PCB post shows the space ship leaving earth, and when the totem pole leaves earth, the earth has mountains and different things like that. But both earths look the same. Remember how the totem pole was from alien life form? Maybe we have to search for alien things.

After you place the final jewel onto the totem at Nabooti Museum, the following scene appears:

Who would've guessed?
Who would've guessed?

At the top-right corner, you’ll see that the totem has green sparks coming out of it. The shape of these sparks look very much like the blue sparks seen in some of the AK Island sneak peeks showing the custom rockets! That’s another relation between the two island plots! Maybe Poptropica’s flying vehicles are powered with these mysterious substances?

Now, is Poptropica just flat or… round? Referring back to the picture shown above, you’ll notice that the totem had been shooting out of a round planet. We know that the totem had lifted off from Nabooti Museum, which is in Main Street of Nabooti Island, Poptropica. Therefore… could that round planet (which resembles our Earth!) be Poptropica?! That’s our first glimpse of Poptropica as a planet.

On April 22, 2009, the Poptropica Creators designed a very special poster in honor of Earth Day, encouraging us to protect the planet. The planet in the picture looked very similar to the one shown in the Nabooti quest cutscene at the end, except in this poster, the Astro-Knights custom rocket was flying past. This was what it looked like; our second glimpse of Poptropica as a planet:

And now we have the third glimpse of Poptropica as a planet. This was today’s sneak peek, courtesy of Binary Bard:

Blog Post Title: Now Leaving Poptropica

Now reaching cruising altitude over Poptropica. Please keep your seat belt securely fastened during the flight. In the event of an emergency you will be given further instructions…Maybe.

The binary code (the o’s and 1’s) in the description read “Liftoff”. Thanks, Incredible Fish! The UFO in this sneak peek might possibly be Excalibur, as shown in a previous Astro-Knights sneak peek. Again, this picture is added proof that Poptropica is indeed a planet!

Speaking of this sneak peek, Astro’s release, which is due in spring 2009, must be getting close! Spring is coming to an end on June 20nd, with summer beginning officially on June 21st (at least, for those living in the northern hemisphere!). (Unless they delay it again like they did with Nabooti and Big Nate, but let’s hope not.) Also, the title of this sneak peek (Now Leaving Poptropica) and its description sort of hint that Astro-Knights Island might be coming vveeerrrryyyyy soon. 🙂

And remember that Disney’s Space Buddies advertisement building? There was a nice little mission to go along with it. Thanks to a reminder from Purple Sword, we just remembered to show you guys out fourth glimpse of Poptropica as a planet! Check out this YouTube video made by Blooberry95, displaying a tutorial of the ad’s mission:

Starting from the time 0:14 (14 seconds into the video), to 0:33, you get to see the Disney space shuttle leaving the Poptropica planet, which indicates that the islands of Poptropica are indeed placed together on the same planet.

Also, thanks to Rough Eye (who actually has a pretty keen eye) and Incredible Fish, we’ve also remembered that there are two more glimpses (we’re now up to the 5th and 6th!) of a planet available in Poptropica! In the room ‘B.A.D. Satellite’ on Spy Island, where you fight the minibots and Director D, there are two round windows on each side with a half of a planet showing in each of them. This is what the view of the left window looks like:

I spy with my little eye...
I spy with my little eye...

Oddly enough, this planet looks a little less cartoon-ish than the others. And since this is on a satellite hanging in space, we’re able to see Poptropica’s planet that way.

There is also the theory that Poptropica is part of the real planet we live on, Earth. One example of why this could be true is that on Nabooti Island, you are actually traveling through Africa, a real continent in our Earth. The question we have now is, would Poptropica be part of our Earth or does it exist as its own individual planet?

As we can already tell from the Astro-Knights official description image, there’s going to be a Planetarium on Main Street with a big telescope sticking out. Who knows, but maybe then we’ll be able to do a little astronomical investigation of the stars and… PLANETS!

What do you think? Comment below and tell us your thoughts and if possible, furthur investigations!

  1. I don’t believe its a sequel to Nabooti, but i could be wrong. I guess we will have to wait for it to come out. I hope it comes out soon, i hate it when they postpone things. 😡

  2. WOW!!! I always thought of Poptropica as a group of islands, maybe out in the middle of the sea, and new islands being discovered to add to Poptropica. But, if we’re a planet, does that make us…ALIENS??? I guess not, since Poptropicans are people, but that’s interesting…here’s another speculation: if, in Time Tangled, we travelled through time, did we travel to ANOTHER PLANET’S history? Since we visited Thomas Jefferson in 1776, the Great Wall of China, and the Statue of Liberty being built in France? Hmm…

      1. Just a thought…but I don’t think it’s true since our characters are really people. But yeah, you’re right–scary.

    1. BOM-BOM-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! Wow, I never thought of it like that. Anyways, I wouldn’t mind being an alien. I hear that you can eat Twinkies all day long.

      1. Beep-Boop! I am alien Spinner, eating energy crystals! (Or, at least Tic-Tacs). Bleepy boop!

      2. I made my poptropican look like a disguised alien. Here is the description:
Has earmuffs to look like she is hiding something, has polka-dots, but since she has pale skin they are hard to see, and I made her use the Phantom power to just give her a slight glow.
Now here is the picture (remember it’s an alien in disguise so you can hardly tell.

    2. Just like with humans on Earth, Poptropicans on Poptropica would not be known as aliens to eachother. Technically, ‘aliens’ are foreign creatures. To the inhabitants on Earth, Poptropicans (IF they were real) would be aliens, and vice versa. And that’s just if Poptropica is its own planet! 😉

Shifty Shadow has an interesting point about traveling through time in Time Tangled Island. I don’t know how to answer that one! 😛

      1. what if poptropica is based on a real planet, but the creators dont want us to know it….

    1. Incredible Fish – I know, but thanks anyway. Since there doesn’t seem to be much interest from the Snapshot Sagas (no offense), I may be delaying the post. Don’t worry, everyone should be able to find the PCB if they’d like to read it earlier. 😉

The main reason for the Snapshot Saga’s delay, though, is to give the PHB readers more time to take notice of the planet investigation (which is this post). Some people don’t scroll down, so they might miss this and we don’t want that to happen. 😛

  3. hey.. 🙂 i think poptropica is like earth in cartoon style, because it’s got history, carrots, cartoon strips and carrots, just like earth. also it kinda looks like earth on the pictures, you just cant recognise any countries 😀

    1. Chatty Parrot – I agree with that. Poptropica’s planet seems to be based on what our Earth is like, and it has things our own planet has in real life.

On comment #8, Graham does have a point about it being part of Earth, just not showing Earth’s countries (only Poptropica’s islands). There is also the map from Nabooti Island showing that Nabooti is actually part of Africa, which may be indicating that Poptropica is part of our Earth.

      1. Thank you. I never thought about the Africa part of Nabooti island. You don’t travel to a different world to get to Nabooti island. Africa is on our world. I guess poptropica is on Earth. Like I said on comment 8: the map is just zoomed in on the poptropica part.

      2. scary tomato maybe since the nabooti island has books thats why they decided to make a part 2 and maybe a part 2 to big nate but remember that poptropica is supposed to have educational stuff

Scary Tomato: Maybe, but I doubt that any of the islands would have a sequel to them (it’s just a theory). Especially Nabooti, as it’s already an island that takes longer to do than the rest.

      3. what if poptropica has its own africa

ST: A clone of the Earth? That would be cool! 🙂

  4. I do not think poptropica is another planet. I think it is just a place on earth (not a REAL place.) The map is just zoomed in on the poptropica part. They don’t have to make the planet look JUST like earth. They don’t have to show U.S.A or china or stuff like that. They can show their cartoon animation of earth. Astro Knights is probably coming vvveeerrryyy soon.

  5. I think Poptropica is another planet. Maybe it was discovered by astronauts. Looking for an earth-like planet. Anyway If that’s true Poptropica won’t be discovered for a long time.

  6. I love how they created the planet. I mean, everything’s popping out instead of being flat. Plus it sorta looks like a 3-D pentagon (is there even a word for that????). And wow, Poptropica has a lot of mountains! I see, like, seven mountains. 😀

    1. Yeah, I agree with you; it does look pretty cool. 😀
But how does it look like a pentagon? It doesn’t have 5 sides! 😉

      1. No that I think about it, it kinda looks like a hexagon…or maybe a heptagon…I’m getting confused!

    2. Cheerful Claw – I like it too! It kind of looks cartoonish and real at the same time to me, but it still looks like a great work of art.

By the way, if you’re looking for the word for a 3D pentagon, it would depend on the number of bases it had. If there was only one base on the polyhedron (3D figure whose faces are all polygons), it would be a pentagonal pyramid. If it had two bases it would be called a pentagonal prism.

I’ve also noticed a lot of lakes on all these planet pictures. Pretty awesome! 😀

  7. Wow, I never noticed that! 🙂 zdoesn’t 24 Carrot Island also go into space when you control the rabbot or whatever?

    1. Green Seal – Yep, it does go into space! (Wow, that’s a lot of flying into space for Poptropicans.) As Ruthrose88 said, you don’t get to see Poptropica as a planet then, but you DO get to see all these pixellated silver meteors (or are they moons?)!

      1. Scary Tomato- If they are astroids , that would be more proof that Poptropica could be it’s own planet. Remember: the astroid belt is a planet away from Earth: Mars. If the objects were astroids, that would mean Poptrpoica is a planet next to Mars.

      2. If those are astroids, Poptropica couldnt be a cartoon form of Earth. Earth is a WHOLE planet away. Plus, if they are moons, Earht only has one. Pretty good clues.

  8. Don’t forget when you are in the bad satalite you can see poptropica.

Scary Tomato: What do you mean? Please be more detailed.

    1. when the bots in spy island get you in a screen you can see the earth not sure it is POPTROPICA earth

Scary Tomato: Oh yes, I do remember that now! Thanks, I’ll do some research about it.

  9. OMG! I’ve printed all the AK sneak peek pictures and given them to my friends who play Poptropica and none of us can wait! I hope they don’t postpone it like they did for Big Nate or Nabooti… This seems like the best island yet! I remember when Early Poptropica was the only island and you couldn’t costumize…(sigh) good ol’ times.

    1. Early POptropica as the one and only island? My friends were like…

If only we could change our avatars or do whatever, also travel further.

  10. Astroknights is comin out soon? Yay 😀 😛

Everyone check their emails, it may have already came out! 😉

Also see those clouds or steam clouds or fog or whatever on that animated planet? LLooks weird 😕

    1. 1846914 – We’re all hoping Astro-Knights will come out right now, of course, but it hasn’t yet. I’ve been checking my personal e-mail whenever I could, but sadly it hasn’t been released yet. Still, spring’s not over yet! 😉

Also, I think those foggy things you were talking about are just part of the atmosphere. I’m not sure, but I think our planet, Earth, has some too.

  11. Poptropica is not a planet, it is earth in poptropica form. If Poptropica was a different planet we would not not have Nabooti Island, or Time Tangled Island

  12. In the Space Dogs ad, when you went to the boneship, you could see the Poptropica planet.

Scary Tomato: That’s right! Thanks for the reminder. 😉

      1. Actually, i think that it will be like on the African Map, and we can FLY by Poptropica, only there will be obsticles, like those Macanical Sharks, or the black hole thinggys.

Not to disagree, but that is just my opinion.

  13. I always think of it as a planet because when we want to go to different islands, we travel by a hot air balloon thing. If it was just all land, they would make us walk to different islands AND not call them islands! They would be like a continent! So we travel by hot air balloon because there is water between the islands! And Poptrropicans, do you really think the creators would spend their time saying if it is a planet or not? They don’t really care, they just want us to have fun! 😀

    1. good point, and the main think is poptropica is a lot of fun 🙂

Also, stroll around astro knight island on PCB! WOW! I bet its coming out soon

    2. Yeah I think there are a lot of ways to look at the Poptropica world and none are really right or wrong. It’s just a place you go to have fun.

  14. About the B.A.D. satellite thing: what if Earth was a neighboring planet to Poptropica? Then, technically because we actually are on planet Earth, we’re really are playing aliens. Spooky, isn’t it? 0.o

  15. Lol you used my video 😀
Feel free to use any of my videos. You have permission.

Scary Tomato: LOL, thanks. Hope you didn’t mind. Your video was a great example of what we were talking about in the post, so we put it up there. 😛

  16. new post.
It is for AK island. HURRY UP AND PUT THE ISLAND ON ALREADY, poptropica Creators!!
sorry if someone said this before me, i checked all the comments, but i couldv’e slipped.

    1. for the new post, did u notice alot of the flowers died and a tress as half burned and windows were cracked?just sayin

    2. i know i shouldn’t say this but i could of told everyone about new post but i didn’t feel like it (back to subject) anyway the bad sattleite shows Earth maybe i think if you looked on the other (you can’t) you would see poptropica home planet

  17. As soon as I saw the totem I figured out that the islands were on a planet. I figured it was poptropica, but I wasn’t sure. I assumed everyone knew… o_0 whoopsies! but yeah, maybe we study the stars? In the renaissance, astronomy was very popular. And it looks like AK island is the renaissance (1500’s) + modern technology. You can tell by some of the pics, especially the one with the attic and the knight that looks a lot like spy island. In fact, this could’ve been giving us a clue so we could find the earth, which would relate to what AK island is about! Its a long shot, but I don’t think its a coincidence.

  18. Well as far as Im concerned, Poptropica (whether its supposed to be Earth or not..) is simply a nice place to get away to when youre bored and need something to do. Even if it doesnt mean actually GOING somewhere, once youre zoned out into the game its kinda like youre on vacation!! 😉

  19. I think Poptropica is part of earth because seing how you would fly across Africa in Nabooti, but still be in the Poptropica is like a way that poptropica is a part of earth! Who knows? We Poptropicans might go to different places or different planets! 😯 ( Probably  ).

  20. Christopher Columbus and all normal ppl back when he discoverd America thought the world was flat.. maybe that’s what we’re thinkin’… Maybe? Agreeable?

  21. its part of earth i think… since the time you battle director d you can see an earth looking planet in the distance which could possibly have poptropica islands on the other side.

  22. I got a really good answer for this…Maybe Poptropica is in another Dimension but wat we call poptropica in our dimension its earth..

and everything looks the same..and the same people did the same thing like the statue of Libratury..but its in The other Dimension that we are living in…..or there is a planet out of our solar system which is a exact Repuca of earth…

ST or they good enough answers to be right?

ST: Hmmm… sounds a little scary, but could be possible. 😆

  23. POPTROPICA IS ITS OWN PLANET! On Astro-Knights, When you build the rocket and then go in and turn on the little computer thingy, you can click on the planets to learn about them. And it says *gasp!* Planet Poptropica when you click on it! So that proves that it’s a planet, not part of Earth!

  24. Ok, this whole planet theory was from six years ago, so we have a lot more evidence now.
    My theory-
Poptropica is its own planet. It’s in another solar system(Fire Planet, Ice Planet, etc.) And Nabooti doesn’t exist because it’s a sponsored island. Aliens do exist as seen in Astro Knights, Lunar Colony, Mission Atlantis, etc. But the whole thing with Time Tangled Island being about events that happened on earth is very confusing. Maybe Poptropica WAS Earth, but something went wrong in the past that made all of the continents into islands and have it in a different universe. So even though Poptropica is its own planet, it still has some real world locations(as seen in Cryptids, Game Show, Zomberry, Time Tangled, etc.), those locations are maybe just on islands. Or it’s just a computer game.

I’m not really sure about this theory, the concept is very confusing. I’ll have a better theory soon.
