Membership?
While searching the Internet for Poptropica. I came across a page from the creators of Potropica, Pearson Education, with some interesting information.
The page was talking all about whats good about Poptropica. But we all know that 😛
It gave opinions from children who play, the knowledge you learn but it was only near the bottom of the page that my eyes opened wide.
This is what it said:
In early 2009, Poptropica will begin to charge for premium services – early access to new islands, for example. This will provide an additional revenue source while keeping the core of the site free, assuring that Poptropica will publish to even more kids while also strengthening its brand and licensing value.
But what does this mean. Obviously we will still be able to do everything as a free player, but what don’t we get, not being a member.
Members getting access to islands first. Maybe this will come out before Big Nate comes out.
In my opinion i dont like the idea of Poptropica getting memberships. But sometimes games have to do this.
Ill get the membership if it comes out though :D.

By what the picture can show us it that its seems to be a Hotel. Maybe a rich Hotel because of the marble columns. This is why it could be from the French Themed Island.

Actually, the Poptropica membership is nothing like the Club Penguin membership. Well, they both cost money. But on Club Penguin, most of the game requires a membership. On Poptropica, the membership has a few bonus perks, but most of the game does not require a membership. So really, they are opposites. A lot of sites exist purely for making money – Club Penguin is one of those sites – but Poptropica is only doing this because websites are very expensive, so they just need a little money. But the whole point of Poptropica’s existence is not to earn money.
I have membership and it’s SUPER CHEAP!

Oh, yes, I agree with this also! Club Penguin has been saying, EXPERIENCE MORE WITH MEMBERSHIP and has been taking away everything. EVEN GAMES.
Poptropica is trying to earn money because they might have to pay bills and they can cost a lot! The whole point is to just earn a little money. Rather than to ruin our lives.

I agree Poptropica in Alabama, Alaska, California, Texas, Vermont ,Ohio, Florida ,Idaho,Kansas and Maine. All right the get membership at 2:30pm.
I think Big Nate island will open in February because of the page that you told us about and I found that out that every island opens in 6 to 8 weeks.

I don’t get it, on the Poptropica FAQ it says Poptropica is free and there is no subscription. If it happens, why would they do that? It kinda stinks because I’m not allowed to by stuff off the Internet.
Scary Tomato: Right now there isn’t subscription, so that’s why the Poptropica FAQ says that. It’s just a rumor that membership may possibly be released in the future. 😉

Huh. This membership thing is interesting. I have mixed feelings about this.
The good side is that we, the PHB, will be able to provide island guides and maps even before it’s even released to non-members.
The bad side is that I’m somewhat afraid Poptropica will become like Club Penguin. Club Penguin has over a trillion benefits for members, but non-members really don’t get much. I’m afraid that Poptropica will start having member-exclusive clothes and member-exclusive islands.
Nevertheless, I will probably buy a membership if this is true.

The reason I don’t have a club penguin like my friends is because of this. I liked poptropica because you didn’t have to pay for anything. Just play all you want. Everyone who DOESN’T want this to happen: just hope it doesn’t. That’s all that we can do. And yes, that means you, Giant Berry.

As from most of you, you don’t like the idea of Poptropica getting membership services.
But i want to make this clear to everyone.
Poptropica having payed options does NOT mean that there will be NO free play.
You will still be able to play Poptropica normaly without paying.
Paying will only give you access to islands earlier, maybe more stuff, and some other things.
YOU WILL still be able to play Poptropica without a membership. You don’t HAVE to pay.
People who are saying you hope its just a rumour, unfortunatly the people who created POPTROPICA said they were going to bring out membership. SO unless they change there mind…there going to bring it out.
I don’t know how i’m going to contact them to try and confirm the outcome. But i will try to contact them.

It’s probably best if I don’t become a member. I normally use stuff on the Internet that is free.

Having a membership would total cut down fun. I play Club Penguin and hate that I can’t buy stuff. If they do this it would take away from Poptropica

This is glumming me out. I really like poptropica. I have four accounts and i’ve been playing even when they had only one island. The membership thing is quite a horrible idea. I cant really decide if i want to have one or not. I don’t want poptropica to have a membership. What ever went wrong with having free games?
