Monster Carnival Island

The Monster Carnival Files: The Attractions

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.-> Hi Gs, <-.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

Up until Monster Carnival is released, I’m going to post a series of “files” that go into detail about certain elements of the island as we know it. The fourth file will be about the attractions of the Circus of Bizarre as we know them.

You’ve probably seen that picture of Monster Carnival Island’s island microcosm before. It was in the third Monster Carnival file, and is also featured on the Mystery of Monster Carnival page. But we need to take another look at it, because this file is about the attractions of Monster Carnival, and this picture is the first time we ever got a glimpse of the attractions.

Behind the “Coming Soon!” sign, we can see a Ferris Wheel, and a dark tent with two devilish eyes peeking out from within. In the teaser trailer, similar looking curtains and devilish eyes are seen.

The Ferris Wheel in the picture will be used in the upcoming island. We first saw a glimpse of the new Ferris Wheel as the page background of the island tour. The page also has a desktop wallpaper that shows an evil version of the carnival, including the Ferris Wheel, at night! On February 15th, I posted about an unreleased poster that has been showing its face around Poptropica — the Monster Carnival “Now Out For Members” poster! On it, we can see yet another alternate view of the Ferris Wheel, at a different time of day — afternoon. It seems that we will be watching the carnival morph into madness as the sun goes down…

Now that we have covered the Island Microcosm, and the attractions that are shown there, we can take a look at the Haunted Amusement Park island ideas page, where we can find even more of the possible attractions. In the page, many attractions are listed. I’ve copied all of them into a list below, and commented on the points that we know about;

  • Ferris Wheel

Of course, we just discussed this attraction.

  • Roller Coaster

The Crazy Maker is probably the rollercoaster for this adventure. Also see this Daily Pop.

  • Tents/Big Top

We just discussed the Big Top! 😛

  • Midway/Booths/Games

There are multiple games planned for us — the Duck Game, Pop the Balloon, Weight Guessing Game, and more — I’ll be discussing them later on.

  • Clowns
  • Ringmaster
  • Lions
  • Bear on Bicycle
  • Elephants
  • Vendor
  • Funhouse Mirrors

We’ve seen many Daily Pops that have Funhouse mirrors; check out my post on the PTFP that includes them.

  • Candy Apples, Popcorn

We may be eating these treats and more at the refreshment stand — we’ll discuss that later.

  • Test of Strength (hammer)

Shown on the Monster Carnival tour page, there is a Poptropican holding a hammer, as if she is going to strike something — the test of strength meter.

  • Fortune Teller
  • Log Flume

Perhaps this water slide has something to do with the log flume.

  • High Diver
  • Pumpkin Competition

Maybe instead of pumpkins, the competition will be about butter.

  • Trapeze Artists
  • Freak Show

More about the monsters of the freak show in the second file. Also see the chicken man.

  • Tight Rope
  • Shoot from Cannon
  • Ticket Booth

Long list, eh? We still aren’t done. Let’s go into detail about the Carnival games.

We first became aware of the Carnival games from the Haunted Amusement Park page, of course, but we knew which ones made the cut by the Daily Pops.

In the first Daily Pop listed, there is a truck with three names of the games we will be playing — the Duck Game, Pop the Balloon, and the Weight Guessing Game.

On FunBrain, there are numerous ads for Monster Carnival, one being a high quality image of the attractions (Thanks Aang for the lead)! On the picture, we can see what the Duck Game and Pop the Balloon attraction will look like, along with a refreshment booth!

Lastly, lets talk about the Tunnel Of Love. It is probably the first Monster Carnival element to be shown on the Daily Pops. In the background of many of the posts, there is a “No PDA” sticker on the background. What is the PDA? It may stand for a heart disease, or perhaps a digital assistant. “PDA” simply means “public display of affection”.

The attraction was confirmed as part of the island in the print out poster for Monster Carnival. We also know what the evil version of it will look like from the desktop wallpaper.

tunneloflovetime

This is all we know about morphing, refreshing, broken, buttery, and lovely attractions of Monster Carnival Island — I’ll be updating this post when the island comes out, so check back when that happens! 😀

This is the last addition to the Monster Carnival Files — see you at the show! 😀

Following Up

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.-> Hi Gs, <-.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

First of all, I want to thank all of you guys for liking and commenting on my posts. I just reached 200 likes on this blog! That is amazing, and you guys are responsible — I’m going to bet that you can’t make it over 10 likes on this post. If I lose, you guys will get a prize. Let’s see who wins. 😉 BTW, I know I’m sorta overloading everyone with posts at the moment, but that’s just how it’s gonna be when a new island is in the air. I hope it’s not too incredibly annoying. And now, back to the scheduled programming. 😛

200likes

Many posts of mine are predictions, petitions, and things that are left unanswered. There needs to be a follow up to all these posts, and so from time to time, I’m going to make a follow up post, which closes the cliffhangers of the posts that we now know the answers to.

Re: The Life of a Lab Tester

I just wanted to mention a few of the possible preliminary workings of Poptropica Labs from Jordan Leary’s (Dr. Hare) blog. First, he posted a land mass generator (probably used for the land generator for Lands):

Lastly, he posted a poogle gallery— creatures that look very similar to the “pet rocks” that appear in Lands. He calls them “Poogles”, however, which is a pretty neat name, and probably the correct term for the pet rocks. Yay for hacked terminology. 😛

Re: Nightmares of the Carnival & release of Poptropica Labs

In this post, I theorized that Monster Carnival may be released as the classic pop, and not be a SUI. But according to Jeff Heim’s Facebook, he has made a soundtrack for the island, ruling out this theory.

And BTW, this post is where I got the fact that MCI was coming out mid-February; so ha, naysayers! 😛

Re: Release Dates

In this post, I theorized that the Mythology Island SUI would come out February 7th. Obviously it didn’t come out then — perhaps because the Creators wanted to trip me up. I said in the post that I didn’t really care. 😛

Re: Things get annoying (video ads)

In this post, I alerted everyone about the new ad unit of Poptropica, video ads. Sometime after, they disappeared. Has anyone else seen the ads?

Re: Spying on Spy Island

In this post, I theorized that Spy Island was going to be the next SUI… I don’t even know why you guys still listen to me. 😛

Re: Predictions

In this post, I theorized about Mocktropica’s plot. I said that Gamer Guy might be the villain, trying to get revenge on Poptropica for firing him. This is obviously not the case, but I still have a feeling that we may be seeing Gamer Guy in the future…

Now I can finally put those posts to rest. 😛

Happy birthday, Jeff Kinney!

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.-> Hi Gs, <-.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

jeffkinneycardYou may know him as Comic Kid, you may know him as the writer of the Wimpy Kid series, but whatever you know him as, let’s wish him a happy birthday! Jeff Kinney is 43 today!

If you’re wondering who he is, Jeff Kinney is the main creator of Poptropica (he came up with the idea), along with the other titles I listed above. There is a contest being held by Pizza Hut’s “Book It” program, where you can win the full Wimpy Kid book set! Find the details here. 😀

I thought it was appropriate to make a birthday card for Jeff, so here it is! 😛 Comment here with your name and message on this post to sign it! 😀

The Monster Carnival Files: The Logo

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.-> Hi Gs, <-.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

This file has been updated to the information from Monster Carnival Island. The red text is the updated info, the black is old.

Up until Monster Carnival is released, I’m going to post a series of “files” that go into detail about certain elements of the island as we know it. The third file will be about the logo — how it has evolved, and why it is what it is today!

monstercarnivalfileslogo

mci

The picture above is the island as seen on the map from 2007. At the time, they simply put text under island microcosms, instead of the island’s logos. On this island, we can see a Ferris wheel, and a tent with monstrous eyes peeking out of the darkness.

The same island microcosm may be used for the new island*, but the logo is bound to be updated — in fact it already has been. But where did they get the idea for the logo?

*In fact, they did not use the exact same microcosm for the new island; it is very similar, however.

monster-carnival2

The above picture is the current logo. It is a very compact and creative idea — it consists of a carnival tent, with the bottom “Carnival” text sort of forming a chomping mouth. The “R” from Monster has a devilish tail, and may have been inspired by the “One Million Monsters” contest that the PHB held in the summer of 2009.

The Monster Competition

The fonts used in the logo have been modified, and I couldn’t find exact fonts to match them — but, Coney Island is close to the base font for the text “Carnival” in the logo. I couldn’t seem to find a font that could have been (positively) used for the “Monster” text, but the (pricey) Olaus Magnus font is a similar substitute.

In my opinion, the Monster Carnival logo is one of the most creative logos Poptropica has ever released. Let’s hope the island is just the same. 😀 Check out my review of the island here. 🙂

The Monster Carnival Files: The Monsters (and Hypno-Powder!)

(¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.-> Hi Gs, <-.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

First of all, the members-only Hypno-Powder is now available in the Store! To use it, equip it and press the spacebar. Check out what you can do with it:

Up until Monster Carnival is released, I’m going to post a series of “files” that go into detail about certain elements of the island as we know it. The second file will be about the monsters of Monster Carnival as we know them.

monstercarnivalfileslogo

The Daily Pop above is the first time we ever saw a glimpse of the monsters from Monster Carnival. The title of the post was “Monster Mash”, and the description reads “These monster costumes never made it past the concept stage.” Some say that these were costumes for the store, but they released Medusa in Mythology Island, and I believe the one on the left is from Monster Carnival — a werewolf janitor. Many other sketches for Nabooti Island were drawn in the same style, and so I think those were sketches for islands instead of store costumes.

The early ideas of Monster Carnival was to have a zombie plot, where the ringmaster has enslaved zombie workers. That wouldn’t cast a very wide variety of monsters to design and interact with in the game, so with the upcoming island, the Creators have different plans.

On the last day of October 2013, a Daily Pop was posted titled “Super Fly”, and the description reads “Happy Halloween from Poptropica!” This was disregarded because it was about Halloween, and not a serious working, but the post shows a fly with a labcoat on, and a brain in a container beside it. Perhaps the fly is Doctor Price and he switched brains with a fly? Anyway, the picture is monstrous, and we may be seeing Super Fly in the future.

These two Daily Pops were what got our theorists thinking that Monster Carnival was coming back. The first has mutated animals, including a multiple eyed puma, and a jackalope (a mythological creature). The next picture shows a glob monster, and a hairy hand just right of the screen shot. No. 99 is danger! as seen on the box, and is probably a monster you will have to find, capture, or fight in the quest.

Mechanical Ravens also appear in recent Daily Pops, but they are discussed in the first Monster Carnival file, Ringmaster Raven. There have also been monstrous forests showing their faces on the Daily Pop, although they aren’t necessarily monsters. 😛

On the 21st of January 2014, a Daily Pop was posted with the name “Beast Mode”. Is this beast No. 99? I don’t think such a hunky creature could fit into such a tiny box that the danger monster is supposedly contained in — unless comically.

The last monster on this list has no name (just like the others), but he has been seen quite a lot in these past monstrous months. I call him a mean goblin thing. The first time we ever saw this creature was in the desktop wallpaper for Monster Carnival.

In the wallpaper, you also see a monstrous Ferris wheel — but that’s to discuss some other time. 😉

On February 12, 2014, the Creators posted about working at Poptropica — they get chased by monsters all the time! The picture in the post shows a Poptropican wearing the Ringmaster Costume running away from the mean goblin thing. This suggests that for a part of the island, we will be chased by monsters! Ouch.

Werewolf janitors, mutated pumas, jackalopes, giant apes, glob monsters, super flies, mean goblin things, and No. 99 — DANGER!

This is all we know about the monsters of Monster Carnival — this post will be updated when Monster Carnival Island comes out, so check back when it does! 😀
