DP archive, PHB survey, & fansites’ spotlight for 13 million!

thirteen mil

Wow, 13 million hits already? We just had a party not too long ago, but you guys do deserve something super cool for bringing the PHB this far! This thirteen means you’re in luck, not out of it – because as the graphic above summarized, this celebration comes in 3 awesome parts! 😀

part one :: the complete daily pop sneak peek archive

Yes, the whole shebang, from November 2010 to the present! After lots of hard work collecting all the images from a certain link where the date can be changed, the PHB now has the complete archive of sneak peeks from the Daily Pop all on one page. Browsing through the ages here should be a lot easier than using the actual Daily Pop! We’ll be updating the page every month. Click here to view it!

If you’re not convinced of the insurmountable awesomeness that lies within the archive, check out the above snapshots for a sample of what you might find, from rough sketches to unreleased ideas and everything in between. Great for your personal Poptropica graphics, too! 🙂

part two :: the poptropica help blog readers’ survey

For the first time ever, we’re asking you PHB readers to fill out a quick survey so we can get some feedback on what you’d like to see on the PHB, what the PHB reader population consists of, and more. It’ll only take a few minutes! Click here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NTVYMLY

I may even post some of the results later, so if you’d like to have your voice heard, or if you have ideas for the PHB, please take a moment to answer the survey! Might as well, right? You can skip questions if you like, and your responses will be anonymous unless you wish to sign your name.

part three :: spotlight for 13 lucky poptropica fansites

The PHB is fortunate to have so many viewers, but perhaps not everyone enjoys the same amount of attention in the Poptropica community. That’s why, in honor of our 13 million hits, we’re going to list 13 lesser-known, yet active Poptropica fansites who we know from the PHB/PHC community, so that their efforts may be seen by other Poptropicans too. (For more sites, see the PHB’s directory.) Enjoy!

Disclaimer: we do not own any of these sites and cannot control what you may see on them. However, at the time of this post, their focus is Poptropica and they are run by Poptropicans who have been known to frequent the PHB and/or PHC. Also, if you own a Poptropica site that is not listed, please do not be offended – there are plenty of fansites out there and our goal was to list only thirteen. 😉

Whew, you made it to the end of this lengthy three-part post! Thanks for sticking with the PHB, and we hope you enjoy the Daily Pop archive, PHB survey, and our Poptropica friends’ sites.

Keep on popping on, Poptropicans!

MiniQuests, PHB History, & Android app delayed

Hey Poptropicans! Looking to beat the summer boredom? Poptropica may have nearly 40 islands, but if that’s not enough for you, then try the MiniQuests! There’s a variety of these not-fully-island-length adventures to play, and the PHB has guides for all of them – the most recent addition being our Nano-Combat Training Guide for the Virus Hunter promo mini-game – so go check it out! 🙂

For even more ideas on what to do on Poptropica, check out our list of 101 Boredom Busters or play the new Animacation ad on Main Street of Monster Carnival – more details in my previous post!

A couple of other things: video walkthroughs from YouTube have been added to all our island trivia pages, and I’ve finished writing a brand-new History page for the PHB (under the About tab) that highlights some of the exciting things that have transpired since the birth of the blog in 2008! 😀

Remember when Poptropica said that their mobile app would be available for Android (Google Play) starting July? Well, it looks like that’s not the case anymore. According to a more recent tweet from Poptropica, it’s taking longer than expected and may be ready in September. Sad face. 😦

Anyway, that’s all for now – be sure to check out the posts below for all the latest happenings in Poptropica! There’s the Animacation ad, Mission Atlantis Ep. 2 for members, Survival Ep. 3 for allsome new info on both of those islands, and more. Pop in later, Poptropicans! 😀

Poptropica on social media: Google+ page!

Hey everyone! You know how Poptropica’s Facebook page has resurfaced? Well, I looked on Poptropica’s official Twitter and I saw that they’d tweeted a link to an official Google+ Poptropica page! So I went go check it out, and it’s awesome!

popgoogle

It’s basically the Creator’s Blog, but on G+; the only advantages of G+ is that you can re-post their posts to your own G+, and you can set up your G+ settings to get emails when they make a new post — the downside is that you can’t comment on their posts, similar to the Creator’s Blog.

They have 145 followers so far and the first post was made on the 15th of May (not too long ago). Like the Facebook page, Poptropica’s Google Plus is meant for fans of ages 13 and up, but unlike the Facebook page, you can see the list of people who “have them in circles”, which can lead to personal profiles.

Anyway, don’t forget Survival; Ep.3: Distress Signal is coming out on Thursday! 🙂

Poptropica’s official Facebook page – resurfaced!

Hey Poptropicans – did you know Poptropica has an official Facebook page? It seems to have been around for about for a month now, since their current cover photo was uploaded on April 24th of this year. You can find it at facebook.com/OfficialPoptropica, and as of now, this is what it looks like:

Seems like most people aren’t aware of this, as there were only about 70 likes when I checked, and it’s never been announced on Poptropica’s website! In fact, I’d only found out about it recently from Poptropica’s official Twitter (which also has never been announced officially either)–

According to the ‘about’ description, the page is only for the older audience

Welcome! This official Poptropica® Facebook page is for fans ages 13 and up. Younger fans can find out what’s new at blog.poptropica.com.

The Poptropica Creators have also made use of Facebook’s ‘Timeline‘ feature to mark the launches of all their islands to date, each with its own graphic. They’ve also been linking to all Creators’ Blog posts starting from May 15, 2014.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Poptropica has tried to run its own page on Facebook. Back in 2010, they used to own facebook.com/Poptropica (now defunct), where they’d show unseen sneak peeks that even the Creators’ Blog didn’t post (this was before the Daily Pop) – including this cool sketch of a temple for Mythology Island:

KingPalace

They had some trouble regarding personal information, since fans wouldn’t change their profile icons to their Poptropicans when asked, and since people use their real names on Facebook. A few months later, they closed the page. I’m not sure if that’ll still be a problem with the new page they’re opening 4 years later, but then again, no one has commented on anything thus far, and the list of people who have liked the page is hidden, so no personal info there, at least.

Anyway, if you’re a Poptropican who’s 13 or older and has a Facebook account, be sure to give the Poptropica Creators a like so you can get updates on your news feed! 🙂

Sneak Peeks, Web Development

Flying – or falling? It’s time to try defying gravity!

Captain Crawfish of the Creators’ Blog recently posted this sneak peek involving a tiny Poptropican, wide sky, structure to the side (a satellite tower, perhaps?), along with the caption “WHEEEEEEE!!!”–

I wonder what this could be for? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section! 🙂

(EDIT: An anonymous tip speculates that this could be for Survival: Episode 3, which is supposed to be about creating a distress signal – notice the radio tower to the side!)

Anyway, if you’ve had your head up in the clouds (like the little guy in the pic above) for the past week or so, here’s a few PHB posts you can catch up on:

By the way, a new PHB page has been added to the Cool Stuff tab – Pop Quizzes, which lists 180+ Friends profile quiz questions and their possible answers all on one handy page! 😀

Have a great weekend and stay awesome, Poptropicans! 😀
