2010-2012 | Early Days

I was about four or five years old when I started to play Poptropica. We were at the library, when I saw my sister playing a game on the computer. I asked her about what she was playing and she responded, “You are a baby! That tiny brain of yours can’t do anything!” Those words stung like bees.

However, when I went home that day, I decided to start a Poptropica account. My first account was called Messy Speck. I like that name because, it was so…. me. When my sister saw me playing Poptropica, she suddenly wanted to help me. She showed me what the icons meant, how to make friends, and more. Back then, I did not know how to beat a single island! I needed help, and fast. But it wasn’t until a couple of years that I figured that out.

2013-2014 | Poptropica Help Blog and Being Too Busy

I was searching one day for a website to help me beat the islands. Then, I saw my sister looking at a walkthrough. I always studied it when she was at the computer, then I found its name, Poptropica Help Blog. I immediately looked it up and clicked on it.

It gave me so much information! I would spend days on the computer, reading its tips and tricks. I was in love! Now, I used it all the time when I wanted to do something on Poptropica.

The following year, in 2014, I was super busy, so I only played on the weekends. Besides, I figured, Poptropica will never disappear… right? I was on and off Poptropica a lot, also playing other games my friends played.

Plus, my computer had a lot of viruses. Eventually, I had lost interest in Poptropica, so I quit playing.

2015 | A New Account

In 2015, I got a new account, Cool Star. My interest in Poptropica renewed, but I did not use an account to play much. Instead, I read the PHB a lot. I could not comment on the stories and posts I saw, because I did not have an email account. (Editor’s note: You can comment on the PHB without an email address – just enter a fake one!)

So, I wrote what I wanted to say on the PHB in my own journal. Because of this, I fell in love with writing. I loved the way you could express your feelings anonymously!

Pretty soon, I had three journals full of my feelings. Writing did not just become a hobby, but a passion. I wrote fiction and nonfiction articles about anything! I became addicted to writing!

At some point, I stopped playing Poptropica again. My other friends were playing new games, so I did too. I thought I’d quit Poptropica forever. I became busy with other things, so Poptropica was the least of my worries.

But I was still writing. A lot.

2016 | A New Way

In 2016, I actually found time for Poptropica. I had gotten an email account, and so, it was commenting time on the PHB!! I actually did not comment a lot – but I kept writing in my journal.

I’m now in fifth grade. And I love playing Poptropica! My username is TealWings, and my name on Poptropica is Calm Star. But I am not calm!!! I have beaten 20 islands, but not on the same account.

Also, you might see me in the common rooms! I love how you can’t say mean things on Poptropica. Why do you have to be mean to someone?

Anyway, without Poptropica, I would not have realized my passion for writing! Ok, that was awkward. Did I come on too strong? Let us keep going. I also want to say that, thanks to the PHB’s Avatar Studio Gift, I have a lot of cool costumes. Well, that’s all for now… PEACE OUT!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Marci (Queen of Libraries)

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Marci (Queen of Libraries), who discovered Poptropica while on a computer in the school library. See the bottom of this post for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip marci

Howdy, it’s Marci. Or as I like to also refer to myself, Queen of Libraries – like the Queen of Hearts character from Alice in Wonderland, but with libraries. Anyway, that is beside the point. Let’s get on with the MPIP, eh?

The School Library

It all started in school. The school library, to be more specific. During recess time, instead of playing with the other kids, I normally went over there to read some books, hoping for the time to go by quickly. (Hey, well, I’ve never been much of a people person.) Sometimes if I felt like it, I would hop on one of the computers to play on FunBrain.

Anyway, I decided to play on FunBrain one day, and that’s how I found Poptropica. While playing one of the minigames, I spotted one of the ads. Of course, I clicked on it. And that’s how it began. I made an account (one of which I can’t remember now), and played until I beat every island (though I can’t remember how many there were at the time).

Whoopsies, Forgot About It

However, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the game, that quickly came to an end. After I beat every island, I found that I had nothing to do on Poptropica anymore. I quit and forgot about it and found other fun things to do, like draw and write (which Poptropica previously distracted me from). I also found other games like Free Realms (which is now shut down), Wizard101, Woozworld, et cetera, and played those instead.

But let’s talk about how I re-found my love for Poptropica.

My First Sleepover

A couple years later, when I was in 5th grade, I re-discovered my love for Poptropica. At the time, I had made a friend in the same grade as me. After a month or two of being friends, she asked me if I’d like to sleep over during the weekend. So we both asked our parents if I could come over during the weekend, and they said yes.

When I got there, I saw that my friend was on the home computer. I was curious, and she must have noticed, because she gave me a funny look and said, “I’m playing Poptropica.” I couldn’t help but watch. I saw her playing islands I haven’t seen before, which wasn’t surprising since I hadn’t play the game in about two years.

Finding the PHB and Finally Getting Involved

Anyway, after sleeping over, I quickly decided to play Poptropica on my laptop. It’s no surprise I instantly fell in love with the game again, like I did before. However, I did get stuck on some islands, and looked up guides on Google. Can you guess where that brought me? The PHB, of course!

Ever since I found the PHB, I haven’t quit the game. But I haven’t been actively a part of this community, either. To change that, I decided to write this MPIP.

Once the New Poptropica comes out (I still have no clue when that might be), I look forward to creating a blog myself after years of reading the opinions, theories, and news from various Poptropicans in the community.

For now, I’ll just be hanging out on the PHB Discord server from time to time, under the name “Marci//QueenOfLibraries”. I can’t promise I’ll be on much, though. I might also try to find some time to blog, if anyone would care enough to invite me to write on one.

Anyway, this is Marci signing out. Thanks for taking the time to read this post!

My Place in Poptropica: TallMelonIsCool

2010 | An average start

It all started when my mom told me about this website called Funbrain. Well, I really liked Funbrain, though the only place I’d go to on Funbrain was the playground. Every time I finished a game, there was a ad about this game called Poptropica.

At first, I did not really think about that ad. But one day I was curious, and clicked on it to check it out. It was at this point that I clicked on new player and made my first Poptropican.

However, I did not know about saving my account, so I was always making new Poptropicans and just running around, jumping, talking to people, and yeah. I did that for a while, and then something changed when I played Poptropica in the computer lab at school.

At school, one of my classmates saw me playing and told me that you have to try to beat islands in the game, and also told me about making an account. So, when I went home, I made my account! My username is smartajay because my real name is Ajay. I was 6 years old when I made my account. Tall Melon was the first name that came up, so that’s what I went with.

2011 – 2013 | My average Poptropica life

I spent a few years playing Poptropica like a plain average player. I did not know any glitches, did not check out any fan blogs, and did not have any tips and tricks on the games.

Most of the time, I just played the various islands and went inside common rooms. I was always happy when a new island came out. All in all, pretty average of a typical Poptropica player.

2014 | Beyond the simple stuff

The year 2014 was when I started to pick up on more than just the simple side of Poptropica. I did a lot of research and that’s when I discovered exciting things like rare usernames, Nabooti Island’s secret phone numbers, the hidden costume on Early Poptropica, the mystery of Monster Carnival, and more!

Sometimes I’d watch random Poptropica videos on YouTube, and that’s when I discovered PoptropicaPerfectSky‘s Poptropica movies and KeithSammut’s glitches.

2015 | Discovering the Poptropica Community and PHB

As I did my Poptropica research, I realized that the Poptropica Help Blog was the one site with most interesting information and best design out of any I’d seen.

I soon clicked on the “Chat” button on the PHB, and that’s when I really became part of the community. One of the first people I talked to on the Poptropica Help Chat was someone named Pastelia, and the next person I talked to was Red Lizard.

I always had so much fun all thanks to the Poptropica Help Blog. Whether it was chatting on the Poptropica Help Chat (which at the time was still using Xat instead of the current Discord), commenting on blog posts, or Multiversing when someone made a room to join – it was Poptropica heaven.

2016 | Making my Poptropica YouTube channel

If you’ve seen me around, you may know that I have a YouTube channel called SuperTalkCam. I made it earlier this year, and always have fun posting Poptropica videos. For you guys who seem to enjoy it, thank you!

Anyway, I’d like to share about why I made my YouTube channel. You see, when you look up Poptropica videos on YouTube, you want to know what you find 80 percent of the time? Island walkthroughs. And sure, there are some good videos (I really like the ones from Perfect Sky) – but I feel like there could be more. Now, I play other games too – Clash Royale, Minecraft, Agar.io – but when I check out the YouTube scene for those games, I see some pretty interesting videos. Topics include wanted features, top 5 features, and so on.

I wanted to see something like that for Poptropica videos, too. Things like top 5 updates, top YouTube channels about Poptropica, or top islands. Something other than walkthroughs. So that’s why I made my channel – so I could post these kinds of videos. If that sounds like your thing, check it out at SuperTalkCam!

This wraps up TallMeloniscool’s My Place in Poptropica. Hope you enjoyed reading it, and comment below to let me know your thoughts!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: White Ice

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of White Ice, a Poptropican who played on-and-off with another game, Fantage, but ultimately chooses Poptropica. See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip wi

Hey guys! I’m White Ice, and my username is maryamkamal2197. I’m fairly new to the Poptropica community, and to blogging as well. Just to clarify, I’m not the White Ice that runs a Poptropica fashion blog, though I used to run the People of Poptropica blog along with Lucky Joker, and you can find me on Instagram at Skyestique. Here’s my Poptropica story!

2009 | The Beginning

I didn’t discover Poptropica through Funbrain, unlike many people. I actually discovered Funbrain later, through Poptropica!

During 2009, I was living in the Philippines for a short while, and during one of my mom’s classes (I used to come with her to them), there was a girl who came with her parents, and she introduced me to Poptropica. Back then, I was only about age 5 or so, so I don’t remember much about what Poptropica was like back then. But after she introduced me to it, I was hooked.

I didn’t know what walkthroughs were, so sometimes I would get stuck on an island for months. I don’t remember if White Ice was the account that was my first, but I do remember that it’s at least 4 years old. I regret making my username what it is, because it is kind of personal, but I was young, and didn’t know any better. 😛

2010-2012 | Another Game

I soon discovered another online game called Fantage, which caused me to play Poptropica a lot less. My cousin introduced me to it to me midway through 2010. Fantage is a rubbish game now, but back then, it was quite addicting for a kid. To me at the time, Fantage was much better than Poptropica, because you could chat with other players, and in Poptropica you couldn’t.

I would still check on my Poptropica account occasionally, but it wasn’t until my Fantage account was hacked during 2012 that I was fully pushed back to Poptropica.

2012-2013 | Active yet again

These two years were probably the most active years I had on Poptropica, but I don’t get how I never discovered the Poptropica community! During this time, I was obsessed with completing islands. I discovered walkthroughs, but because some written walkthroughs missed details sometimes, I also used Thinknoodles’ walkthroughs. I completed all of the islands that were out back then. I never got membership, because my mom thought spending money on games was a waste.

I didn’t have a chance to introduce my friends to Poptropica, because most of them were Chinese and they weren’t really interested in playing English games. (I live in Hong Kong, and yes, it’s the same city Slanted Fish is from! By the way, Hong Kong is in China, but is considered a special administrative region.) Anyway, some of my friends actually knew Poptropica, because some younger kids would play it in the computer room during recess, but they themselves didn’t play it.

2014-2015 | Growing old

And then life got in the way…

During 2014 and 2015, I started to play Poptropica less and less, because at that time, I got an Instagram account, I became a Potterhead (Harry Potter fan), and I started to read more mature books than the Wimpy Kid and Geronimo Stilton I had been reading before. This led to me becoming a fangirl and joining Instagram fandoms. I even started playing Fantage again, because my cousin managed to get my account back. So basically I just grew up a little. And when I got my first phone, I didn’t touch Poptropica at all.

2015 – present | In Full Swing

It’s funny how many breaks there are in my Poptropica story. I guess that’s because I’m a strange kid who has strange tastes.

During the latter half of 2015, I checked on my Poptropica account sometimes, and completed the newer SUI islands that came out during my 2014-2015 inactiveness. My return to Poptropica was probably due to finally quitting fantage, and to ignore the sadness I felt for splitting ways with my primary school friends. I discovered the PHB, and checked on it pretty often, but I never commented, and I didn’t explore enough to find the PHC yet.

On the 15th of June, 2016, I finally got my chance to get more involved. I was bored and decided to check out the PHB, when I saw the post announcing the Summer Kickoff Party. I thought, Hey, it would be pretty cool to finally actually talk to other Poptropicans!

At 12am on 21st June, I set multiple alarms for 6am on my phone, and put it right beside my head. And guess what? I didn’t wake up. In fact, I was about an hour late, and the party was already in full swing.

The summer kickoff party was an amazing first Poptropica community experience for me. That day, I met Lucky Joker, Red Thunder, and Zany Panda, who, including me, were the last people who stayed on after the party ended. Lucky Joker then had the idea to start a blog together. Thus, the People of Poptropica blog was born. (Unfortunately, it was hacked a couple of months ago, but has since been revived.)

I just joined the Poptropica community not too long ago, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. Well, maybe I will, if the New Pop is disappointing. But probably not. I love Discord (where the PHC is) and blogging too much. 😀 It’s become my daily routine already. Get up, turn on my laptop and go on Discord. If I’m ever famous, it’ll probably be because I’m on Discord way too much! :’D

I have no idea how to close this up, but thanks, fellow poptropicans and POP bloggers. And thank you, for reading my Poptropican story.

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Dangerous Eye

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Dangerous Eye, who first started playing what she called “Poppilliar” at school and now loves the community. See below for details on sending in your MPIP!

mpip de

Hey guys, I’m Dangerous Eye, and welcome to my lovely lovely “My Place in Poptropica”. Enjoi :3!

2010 | Poppilliar

I was a young lass in 1st grade, and it was second semester. I was a very smart girl in school so I attended some 2nd grade classes as well. :3 I met my best friends David and Dezirae there, and we all played this one game we loved called Poptropica, but I had trouble pronouncing things and called it Poppilliar – dumb, right?

Anyway, we joined right when Skullduggery Island was added, and back then a lot of kids started a rumor that after they beat the game, a second, more difficult version of Poptropica would open up. I believed them at the time. I also didn’t know you could save your account, until this 4th grader named Kennedy told me and my friends. She also told me that it was called Poptropica, not Poppilliar.

Over the summer, I stopped playing Poptropica for a while, and only started again when I went back to school for the first half of second grade. I remember I had no clue what the PHB was, but every now and then I’d go to Poptropica Secrets for walkthroughs and watch Thinknoodles videos, back when it was the Insiders Network.

2011 | Poptropica at the Academy

So I wasn’t the angel of the school, and I got kicked out. In my second semester of second grade, I went to another prestigious private school, but little did I know I’d love this school. It was like a fictional paradise in the real world, with a really interesting aspect: every kid there loved the game Poptropica, and I loved it! I loved playing with my friends with Poptropica, and I started to love Poptropica for the story of the islands, the difficulty of the islands varying and the villains.

By this time, Poptropica had became my life and my favorite island was Red Dragon. I would always help everyone at my school with Poptropica, because everyone called me The Poptropica Pro – okay, nobody called me that, but I dreamed they did… anyway, I was one of the best players at my school.

The day Red Dragon Island came out, I refused to watch a walkthrough. Everyone had watched Thinknoodles’ video, but I wanted to do it myself. I strived for at least a month to complete the island of Red Dragon, and it was one day when I was about to give up that I finally beat the island. It’s one of my best Poptropica moments. Honestly, I loved 2011, because I was on top of the game, but little did I know what would happen next…

2012 – 2014 | Mega Poptropica Hiatus

Starting from third grade, I took a long break from Poptropica. Also, my account got hacked. 😦 This account had every island completed until Shrink Ray and I just didn’t want to restart. I had no motivation to redo every island including the (in my book) infamous Red Dragon, which had became my favorite island.

Because of that, I just quit Poptropica and forgot about it. I thought this would be my last time playing Poptropica but I sure was wrong…

Late 2015 | What Has Happened?

I came back to Poptropica expecting the well-plotted game I knew and loved. At this time, I was a hardcore gamer in the seventh grade. I loved video games and decided to give Poptropica another try because my newest friends Devin and Donna loved the game.

I really couldn’t believe what had happened to the game, and the changes sickened me. I missed the old Poptropica, but even though I hated Poptropica now, I found the amazing community, and that helped me. Thanks to that, I found out about all the amazing things happening with Poptropica.

I also fell in love with the Poptropica YouTuber Perfect Sky (if you are reading this, PS, can Perfect Sky x Dangerous Eye be canon? :3 ) I also found the PHB, which I would check every now and then.

2016 | Year of Pop

This is the best year for Poptropica by far. I am following Orb Legend, PoptropicaPerfectSky, and so many blogs. I joined a blog as well, and I became known as Kaliscene or Yandari~Sama on Discord, where the PHC is. I love being part of this community, and I absolutely love the PHB. So many good things have come from it.

I’m thankful for Poptropica making me the social person I am today, even if it’s just on the Internet. The best part of Poptropica for me now is the PHB. So many of the bloggers have inspired me, especially in that one vlog in the PHB’s April Fool’s Day joke where Brave Tomato played the piano… that’s how I got started in piano!

Poptropica surely has evolved – not always in the best way possible, I think – but I can always play the islands I love and remember the old Poptropica I loved and played. My favorite island will always be Red Dragon but the runner-up for me is PoptropiCon because I love superheroes.

So, all I have to say is thank you for reading my MPIP, and thank you all for making me the Dangerous Eye you know today!
