Steamworks Island

*drumroll*

What if you were one of the first people the finish an island? Wouldn’t you want everyone to know? Wouldn’t you like all the poptropican world to admire that you reached that milestone?

It’s no Poptropica secret: Steamworks Island is tough to beat! This is definitely one of the most challenging Poptropica adventures so far. (For my money, the hardest is still Astro-Knights. Why not? It’s got the best villain!)

Despite the difficulty, lots of Poptropica Members, with a full head of steam, have already worked their way to the end. See what I did there?

Congratulations to the first 10 Poptropicans to complete Steamworks Island! Your reward: your name in lights!

1. Bronze Monster
2. Hyper Popper
3. Mighty Flame
4. Popular Jumper
5. Shy Fire
6. Cool Owl
7. Friendly Shell
8. Angry Dragon
9. Shiny Crown
10. Short Flame

We’ll hope to see many more of you crossing the finish line in the days and weeks to come!

BINARY BARD

Congatulations to all the winners!  I sooo want to see Steamworks, but even with my membership it’s not on the map! D: Well, I spose I shouldn’t be whining, at least I have membership. :/ (no offence to non-members this membership thing sucks for how long it takes 😡 )

Sprocket’s got Talent!

A lame joke and some half cyborg half poptropican dance is no match for Sprocket the Robot’s mighty capabilities. Can Binary Bard shoot his jester hat into the air? Pluck out one eyeball and use it to scan things? Even if Sprocket’s capabilities are far beyond that of Binary Bard’s, they are turning out to be great friends.

Will you join forces with Sprocket too?

I cut a rug. I boogied down. I busted a move. Yet my new robot friend was unimpressed. When I challenged him to show me something better, he paused for a moment. I could hear a whirring sound behind his eyes.

Then, a surprise!

This little fella apparently has a few tricks up its sleeve.

“What else can you do?” I asked, a little bit uncertain of whether I wanted to know the answer. The machine extended another appendage that had previously been hidden. It was beginning to remind me of a Swiss army knife.

I wasn’t quite sure what it was doing, but I knew it looked useful. “Say,” I said, an idea forming in my mind, “you wouldn’t want to come along with me on Steamworks Island, would you?”

He nodded his assent, and we were off on a great adventure!

Poptropica Members will be able to join Sprocket when Early Access to Steamworks Island begins on Thursday, August 12. Steamworks island will be open to all on September 9.

Hopefully BB won’t use Sprocket to pilliage, conquer, destroy, and steal a princess (Not again!) from Steamworks.  I wonder how these amazing actions will be used on the magnificent, mechanic, marvilous island of metal and miricles! (Maybe) Anyway, it’ll be fun to tag along with our favourite robot friend, (who’s not a barn owl from Astro Knights island, so no offence Merlin 😉 ) Sprocket. 😀

STEAM OVERLOAD!! ALERT!

Danger! Will Robinson! Extreme danger! You have forgotten to open the steam vent!

When the machine exploded, the parts fell into Poptropica, creating a ‘Steamworks island’ where metal, machines, and a mysterious adventure awaits you!

The creators are revealing it!!!

It’s the official Steamworks Island trailer!

Steamworks Island is coming very soon!

I have nothing to say but… COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! ~Green Boa

Hijuyo reporting:

Don’t know who to trust in this island shrouded with mystery? Poptropica Creator Binary Bard wondered the same thing, and investigated (or poked) a strange sprocket.

Steamworks robot: Friend or foe?

All right, so the question is: If you come across a strange robot lying dormant in a wasteland, should you poke it? 9 times out of 10, it’s probably not a good idea. But I poked this one. It unfurled some crazy robot arms.

Then the visor over its face started to slide upward. I braced myself for its evil mechanical visage.

Well, not bad so far…

Look at that! He’s smiling. Maybe we’re going to get along.

A little shy, but definitely friendly. This is one robot you’ll want to get to know as a friend!

Bonus Items, Store

Emotions=Facial Expression, right?

Express your… expressions… on Poptropica!

For those that can’t hide their feelings

Today we added a new Gold Card item to the store. It’s called Smiley Potion. Use it like the Love Potion. You can choose one of three smiley faces to attach to another Poptropican or even yourself.I decided to put on a disguise and try it out on Spy Island. Yeah, I know. I’m pretty smooth.

Bubble #1 = D:<
Buble #2 = 8P
Bubble #3 = 🙂
I dunno if I would define you as “smooth” MM (or just ‘M’? notice it only says “MIME” after his post, not “MASTER MIME” :O Has Mr Mime lost his magnificent masterness? 😥 )
You probably already know that when you’re in a multiplayer room on Poptropica, you can click the emote buttons on the side of the screen to make your character smile, cry, pout, and jump for joy. Did you know you can also do these elsewhere in the game?

A simple keyboard combination will allow you to use any of the emotes during your adventures, which lets your character react to the story as it happens.

Press Ctrl+Shift+1 to laugh at pompous jerks.

Press Ctrl+Shift+2 to cry when you receive bad news.

Press Ctrl+Shift+3 to blow your stack at a faun who’s giving you guff.

And press Ctrl+Shift+4 to celebrate getting a new item.

That’s not all! You can combine some of these emotes to create brand-new ones that you won’t see in any common room. First, start the angry emote by pressing Ctrl+Shift+3. Once your character’s face is red, but before his head pops off, enter either the happy or the sad emote!
Everyone will think you’ve spent too much time in the sun. Sunscreen, people!

The Hub: Stage 2

The hub! The hub! What’s up with the hub?

Is it a robot, so big and so tall?

Or just a building? Is that really all?

Is it a HUBby, someone who’s fat?

Or maybe a factory! Now how about that?

A really tall tower? A dirty one to scrub?

The Hub! The Hub! What IS with the hub?

Yeah, my poetry is very lame. 😐 But I thought this post needed some spark, to make it stand out. 😉

…ANYway, the new PCB post, The Hub!

O, the Hub! The Hub! What dangers you hold?

Random Person: GET ON WITH THE POST!!!!!

Green Boa: Sor-ry 😐

Time for a pop quiz: Can you tell the difference between the picture we posted yesterday and the one below?

Most of the background elements still look the same as they did yesterday: flat and monochromatic. We’re adding more detail to the Hub on Steamworks Island. We’ve colored in some of the more important foreground objects. They really pop off your screen!

That doorway in the upper-lefthand side of the screen looks mighty intriguing, wouldn’t you say?

The Hub certainly is taking more shape, more realism, more excitement! I still can’t wait to find out what Steamworks island will be like, any way, Cya laters Alligators! 🙂
…….. ALLIGATORS?!! :O *runs for life*
