Lost Cubs, Survival Island

Cub your enthusiasm for the Lost Cubs Mini Quest πŸ»

Hey, Poptropicans! After an accidental leak and two sneak peeks, the Lost Cubs Mini Quest is now here for all players!

You can start the rescue mission by one of two ways. The first way is to visit Home Island and talk to Ishmael, who is being crushed by a sad mama bear. The second way is that you can fly to the quest, which can be found on the first page of the map.

Starting the quest greets you with a comic explaining that the mama bear lost her cubs in the wilderness of Survival Island. Now it’s our job to help reunite this fuzzy family! Click “Start” to begin the quest!

As some of you already know, the Lost Cub Mini Quest was prematurely released earlier this month. How does the finished product compare to the leak? The gameplay is exactly the same with the player needing to collect the five cubs, akin to some of Pop’s ad games. While the gameplay is the same, there is a lot more going on visually in the final version. Leaves and grass are blown by the strong wind, and the blizzard makes finding the cubs a bit more difficult.

Thankfully, unlike the leak, completing the quest doesn’t take you to an infinite loading screen. Finding the cubs on your first playthrough rewards you with a heartwarming reunion, a humble 250 credits, and a cute Lost Cub Mini Quest follower (which can actually roar)!

In the Creators’ behind-the scenes look at the quest, it was stated that players could replay the quest multiple times to earn more credits. UPDATE: The Creators’ Blog clarified that 250 credits should be awarded for the first playthrough, followed by 50 for each subsequent play. (In the first day of release, some players have reported earning 50, 20, or even no credits at all! If you’re having this issue, contact Pop support.)

And that was the anticipated Lost Cubs Mini Quest! Personally, I thought it was pretty lacking since it’s just a simple collect-a-thon game. It’s also strange that this Survival Island-based mini quest was released before Survival Island’s remaining four episodes were converted to Haxe. We all wish that the Creators would focus more on making and porting islands and less on delivering half-baked side quests.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on this quest? Let us know in the comments below! Thank you all for reading the Poptropica Help Blog and bearing with our unbearable puns! 😜🐻

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

      1. Look at the Survival Island Guide on the PHB. Just saying when the player escapes from Myron Van Buren at Episode 5 of the Island.

      2. I think Paris means why can’t we have 2-5 brought back to Haxe, because it’s not on the map yet (except on the mobile version).

    1. The team is undoubtedly working on the rest of the islands, they definingly have a separate team to do mini-quests. I’d rather have mini-quests than have nothing while we wait for islands.

      1. Sandbox as a parent company definitely has more employees than that, though we don’t know how many work on Poptropica. It’s possible not everyone who does is listed as part of the Sandbox team (as they’d be more specifically Poptropica instead).

      2. oh. hmm…. on the Poptropica linkedin page it says there’s 20 employees [ linkedin.com/company/storyarc-media ]. this sort of disproves twoll’s point about there possibly being multiple teams. due to how long it’s taking them to port old islands, they definitely have a problem and definitely require more staff. that’s just my two cents though

      3. Considering the amount of work it takes to make a game like Poptropica (with artists, programmers, and more), I think it’s safe to say Natalie isn’t the only person working there. She may, however, be Sandbox’s one main liaison for connecting with employees at Poptropica, a child company of Sandbox.

In your LinkedIn link, the Poptropica page claims 20 current employees. This is still just an estimate, as we can’t account for employees who don’t have LinkedIn or don’t keep theirs updated. We only know they’re a small team.

  1. they need to port the rest of survival before adding new content to it, they need to port ALL of the old islands before adding ANY new content

  2. Couldn’t bear (😜) the wait, even though it was so short! I love the new mini-quest, but I do agree with Theo. They should put up all of the old quests instead of making new ones. For example, we all love Survival. It has a great plot, great characters, and overall just amazing. They could have put up Episode 2 instead of a small, new mini-quest. Or even any other island. Can you imagine how many islands Poptropica could have put up in the time that they made Fairy-Tale island? That’s a lot.

  3. Thanks for this update, GD! For what it’s worth, I thought the pun in the title (and the many other bear puns generated for this event) was bear-y fitting. 🐻
