2007 to 2017… it’s been a poppin’ decade.
September 2007 – From an office in Boston, Poptropica is launched as an extension of the kids’ educational entertainment site FunBrain. There is no blimp, because there’s only one island: Early Poptropica. There is no Costumizer, no friend profiles, no membership. Just a simple island, and a gaggle of basic-looking Poptropicans.
But ten years later… the Poptropica of the past is worlds apart from the present – with tons of creative characters, 50+ intricate islands, and lots more fun features – but at its core, it’s still the same whimsical world it started out as. And now here we are, in September 2017, looking back on the fact that it’s been a whole decade. Most games don’t stay popular for so long and still pump out new content, but this one beat the odds. Wow.
To commemorate the occasion, we put together the graphic above, celebrating each one of Poptropica’s 10 years with the 10 letters of its name (although, since September is not at the start of the calendar year, the last letter had to encompass two years). You can click on the picture above to take a closer look – there are a lot of details packed in, with each letter marking some events that took place in its represented year. Hope you enjoy! 😁
That’s not all. We’re also going to be having a party on Poptropica to celebrate the anniversary – after all, we couldn’t let such a big milestone pass by without one! It’ll be this weekend, it’ll be lit 🔥, and you should totally pop in…

Holy flippin’ guacomole. Ten years? Geez, where has time gone? i remember being a wee little tot when first seeing these giant eyed fun characters on my computer screen when all I could do was make costumes and run around. Now I blog about this very game, and have come to realize the impact it had, and the amazing times it brought me. I sure hope, Poptropica or Worlds, can bring this very experiance for younger kids, and I’m so glad to be apart of this fantastic community. I hope that Worlds will shine bright and create so much more then I envisioned for this game. I hope that they will continue to create content as they have. And BTW that picture had that nostalgia tho.

Aww yeah! This is a huge milestone! I’ve been with Pop since after Astroknights came out, even if I wasn’t part of the community, so I’ve seen some awesome things!
Now if only the Creators would get their gear together…

Too bad I probably won’t have wifi again by then. I’ll definitely try to enter a Multiverse with Puffin though. 10 years is huge compared to other online games that have fallen far before then. Here’s hoping Poptropica Worlds doesn’t pop like a balloon before the next decade. The 13’th anniversary will be rather bittersweet though, heavy on the bitter, with the death of Flash and Original Poptropica in 2020 ;C . Better enjoy the game while we can before then.

Flash won’t be supported by the developers (Adobe) after that time, but it may still work for a while. Hopefully the Poptropica Creators are able to move over more of what made Poptropica great from Pop Original to Worlds, which runs with newer technology (and is a big part of why they developed Worlds in the first place).
As for other flash games, that’s up to their developers to bring it to more modern technologies – or perhaps other creators will make better games inspired by games you like.

Hey look cool down TM, and let’s just hope it’s just at least more great than some of the previous ones. Who knows, it might be even better than Poptropica’s 8th birthday, cooler prizes, and heck we might get an awesome new/remastered island or mini quest! 😉

Poptropica is and always will bean amazing game and will always hold a special place in my heart for being my, and I don’t use this word lightly, *favorite* game. I’ve been a Poptropican since its 6th birthday and I intend to stay one until the end of my existence. I am so happy that I went to Applebee’s that one night and got a Poptropica kids’ menu because it has introduced an amazing game to me.

Oh yeah, I remember there were Applebee’s code ad items one time in Poptropica. Makes sense that they were advertising Poptropica there. Still interesting to hear of another way peeps have found out about the game. The majority, including myself, discovered the game through Funbrain Arcade’s advertising.

Slanted Fish i live in Toronto Canada. What time zone is that? Also wow just wow Poptropica is 10 years old. I joined Poptropica when it was 3 years old. Poptropica has grown so much and has also grown with me. Seeing Poptropica be 10 years old warms by heart. Its just amazing!

Well, time zones vary by longitude, not latitude, so you’ll find every time zone in the northern hemisphere. What you want to look for is the time zone for your particular region (narrow it down to city or state and google its name and the words “time zone”).
