So, my dearest Poptropicans,
Today was a weird day. Not like talking cats weird… more like meeting a chipper little boy who takes selfies with immortal gods and hangs out with identical spies kind of weird. These bizarre antics and more are captured in this newย Poptropica Worlds trailer:
Well, this video is certainly… interesting. Clearly, one of the aspects that stands out most here, for better or worse, is the running dialogue narrated by an excitable young child named Manfredย who’s writing to Balloon Boy about his adventures on Poptropica Worlds. Since Poptropica has never been one to use voice acting, this change has definitely perked some ears.
From the sound of the kid’s voice, the video sets a very clear vibe of being something that hopes to appeal to children. And while Poptropica is a game targeted to kids, there is also an older player baseย around, many of whom grew up with the game from when they were children, for whom the attempt to appeal is lost in the childlike voice acting.
A commenter on the video, Messy Wolf (WonderfulFilms), writes that “the voice acting was a little bit overdone and catering to a much younger demographic.”
However, another commenter, Kenzie Backlin, had a different opinion, suggesting that “they should do voice acting for all characters.”
Whatever your thoughts on the kid’s narration, we’ve also got the rest of the video to look at. Something that’s more of an unequivocal observation among Poptropicans is that the animation continues to impress, in keeping with the Poptropica style with perhaps more detail than before, especially with the Worlds-style avatars. Good stuff!
Another element that’s important to take note of is the actual content being displayed in the trailer: namely, the islands. We see the boy, Manfred, writing his letter on his desk in his house on Home Island, where he also spins the daily wheel and decks out his place, which he calls his “clubhouse.”
Anyway, could this letter-writing business be a sign that the currently unreleased “Inbox” feature on Worlds is soon to arrive? And that we get to send messages to Balloon Boy, who’s up in the stratosphere? It’s nice to see his presence continued in Worlds, at least.
We also see Manfred run through the other islands currently on Worlds, Crisis Caverns and 24 Carrot. However, he also meets Zeus on Mythology Island, which exists on Poptropica Original but not Worlds โ could Mythology be the next island? And perhaps more curiously, how did he get the irritable Zeus to smile for a selfie?!
Beyond that, there are a couple more that are not so familiar: in one scene, a “phantom” colored in pitch black jumps out at him from what appears to be a stage. In another, a horde of spies appears, then disappears in the next moment. The background is that of Zomberry Island with a side of a soundstage from Back Lot, but these characters don’t appear anywhere in the original game, suggesting that these will be brand new islands.
Anyway, what do you think of the new Poptropica Worlds trailer video? What islands are you looking forward to next on Worlds? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

ACCORDING TO HIS BUSINESS CARD
I think they just got lazy and used backgrounds from older islands. I highly doubt that it means they’re making any new ones. Maybe they’re just advertising the OG Poptropica.
I like how people in the comment section whine about the trailer being directed towards kids. Like what did you expect? IT’S A GAME FOR 6-12 YEAR OLDS, even if adults can play it, that’s not going to change anything. They sound like the Pokemon fandom.
Forget all about the stuff going on in that trailer.
WHO names their child Manfred?!
Probably a man named Fred… but it is noteworthy that they didn’t use a Poptropica style name like Silly Goose or something. ๐
Hey, where’d they go?
(WhatamidoingwithmylifeOhwell.)
The voice acting in the video kind of reminded me of Our Discovery Island to be honest xD. I kinda liked the trailer and its brand of goofiness. I thought it was rather cool how it displayed the house feature by having decore added right behind’Manfred’ at the end. That Zeus selfie was definitely a highlight of something weirder than, say, talking cats. I’m also curious on what the islands are in the works regarding the identical spies and the Phantom. The identical spies makes me think of Spy island, but the background of that scene in the video doesn’t match that island at all. The Phantom seems like something out of Scooby Doo. .Where are you, Scooby-Doo, we’ve got a Phantom to unmask now!
i hope they make like a youtube island where you have to let pewdiepie think of better ideas for his channel and for markiplier to help him find his lost recorder and keyboard and you can help jacksepticeye find his favorite eye toy sorry forgot its name buts it a toy that he loves and it looks like his logo anyway then you can help denis find his cat and you can help popularmmos/pat and jen find their stolen computers replay if you like this idea or you know and watch all of the youtubers i listed and i hope they make this island
Hmmm it will probably not happen…
why u gotta crush my hopes and dreams ๐ฆ
Well becuase I just feel like they would not do a Youtube island….
;(
;-;
I wonder if we get to see zues’s business card…….:D
That I’d like to see! ๐
it would probably say “might be a fraud the lighting is just cardboard and he is big cause he drank a lot of milk”
lol
tbh I think I was the person who originally found this on the PHC but whoever takes credit i’m fine with
Credit hasn’t been assigned to anyone here, and I’m not sure it needs to be. I just noticed many people talking about it on the PHC, so that’s how I found out. ๐
This trailer is pretty well voice-acted, but why Balloon Boy??
Also, the voice reminds me of KO from the cartoon OK K.O. XD
I guess they wanted to keep the Balloon Boy gag going, which is pretty cool considering how it’s spanned many islands and many years! ๐
lol i thought he sounded like KO too ๐
It’s only magic…
My dearest Balloon Boy, Zeus has a business card? Now that is talking cats weird! I wonder if his super villian lair is really cool?-Tomatofred
