Hi everyone! It’s me, Brave Hero. Since a lot of people have been sharing their stories, I’ve decided to send in my own. I haven’t played Poptropica for a really long time like others have, but I still would love to share my story with you. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s actually quite interesting.

My username is smartcute5, for those who are wondering. So, without further ado, let’s get started on my story…

February 2016 | Discovering the Poptropica App

It was an average Tuesday at school. I was at art class, just drawing some random stuff.  While I was drawing, I overheard one of my friends say something about “Poptropica” and something about “credits.” “What is Poptropica, an app or something?” I wondered. I was filled to the brim with curiosity, so after school, I grabbed my tablet, searched up “Poptropica,” and found the Poptropica app.

After downloading it, I opened it, and then I saw little people running across the screen. I clicked on “New Player,” and created my character. Her name was Silly Sun, and she looked just like me, except the clothing choice. After creating her, I started a tutorial, where I had to collect some missing shards to make my first medallion.

When the tutorial was finished, I started playing some of the islands. I immediately fell in love with that game, but then realized that some of the islands were hard. I needed help, so I used video guides (mostly Thinknoodles) to help me complete the islands. I thought this phase would never end until…

March 2016 | Hiatus

I’m not sure why, but Poptropica just got away from me by the following month, in March.  Maybe because some parts of certain islands seemed impossible to complete, or Poptropica just got more boring to me as time progressed. Also, since I had school, I really had little free time.

I thought I was going to be off forever, but soon, something made me want to go back on…

April 2016 | The PHB & Brave Hero’s Beginning

I was just going on my computer, when I suddenly remembered Poptropica. I searched it up and found the website for it. But before I clicked the link, something else caught my eye, something called “The Poptropica Help Blog.” I went on the blog, and found out that the blog was like a Poptropica guide and fun place. It brought back so much nostalgia from my previous Poptropica-playing.

After scrolling around the blog, I went on Poptropica, and created an account online. After selecting my age and gender, a little person busted out of a box. Finding the perfect name was quite hard and took a long time of clicking, but I finally found one: Brave Hero! Then, I landed on Home Island, and I completed my very first island, Monkey Wrench Island, which gave me my first medallion.

May 2016 | Finding Fashion!

Nothing really happened in May, except for me just completing islands and getting new costumes and all of that stuff. I was looking for some way for my Poptropican to look nicer, instead of wearing a classic pink shirt and skirt and a bare smile.

That’s when I found out that the PHB had two posts, one with loads of cute outfits, and another with a mountain of ASGs with awesome and rare costumes. It was perfect! Now, my Poptropican usually wears a pink one-shoulder shirt and belt, a white skirt, coral sunglasses, and a pink cape (to empathize my name, Brave Hero).

June 2016 – present | PHC and Beyond

I was just scrolling around the blog when I came across the PHC, which is the PHB’s chat hangout area on Discord. I created an account and started to chat with others. At first, I wasn’t that active on it, but over time, I met other Poptropicans and became friends with them. Now, I’m basically always online.

Right now, I’m very thankful for joining the community. I have been on Poptropica a lot, and as of now I’ve completed somewhere around 24 islands. My favorite island is Super Power Island, mostly because of my name, Brave Hero. I’m also excited about the New Poptropica, but also sad because it de-emphasizes the Old Pop.  I’m mostly hyped about the shoes, which I find weird.

And that’s My Place In Poptropica! If you want to friend me, my username is smartcute5. Bye for now!

Late 2008 – early 2009 | Finding Poptropica

Hey there, Poptropicans! I discovered Poptropica at the beginning of second grade. At the time, we’d go to the computer lab to do online school assignments. When we completed our given assignments, our teacher would let us play on Funbrain.com. Since I enjoyed using Funbrain, I may or may not have sped through my work just to play on it. 😛

Anyway, one day, I noticed an ad on the side of the website. This ad was for a wonderful game you all know as Poptropica. Being curious at the time, I clicked it. I was actually pretty nervous, since I’d been told not to click ads before. But back in second grade, I was pretty rebellious. The minute I clicked it, a classmate of mine (let’s call him Jack) sees me and immediately shouts, “YOU CAN’T PLAY THAT! IT COSTS MONEY!” I was pretty alarmed, so I decided to just close it.

But, I was still curious as to what this mysterious, blue-screened game was. I decided to wait until I got home to play it – no one could stop me there! Later that day, I got on the computer at home, and went on the Funbrain website. I see the Poptropica ad, and, of course, click it. I found out that it did not cost money to play. The next day at school, I informed Jack that Poptropica did not cost money (HA, in your face, Jack!), and soon, several of my classmates began to play it.

Late 2010 | Exploring Poptropica

I took a bit of a break from Poptropica halfway through 2009, but I soon came back in late 2010! This was mainly because I forgot about Poptropica and was busy with lots of other stuff. Before my break, I’d always play islands on new accounts, rather than play on one account and save it.

Once I came back to playing Poptropica, I finally made and saved an account. I don’t quite remember the username or password of it (and it’s long gone anyway), but I do remember the name: Cuddly Wolf. I remember clicking “Change All” so many times when making my account, just to find a cute Poptropica name. I played as Cuddly Wolf from late 2010 to early 2013. I took another break from Poptropica, and unfortunately forgot my login for Cuddly Wolf. Goodbye, Cuddly Wolf.

2013 | Creating Brave Dolphin & Finding the PHB

I’m not quite sure about the date Brave Dolphin was created, but I believe it was shortly after I lost Cuddly Wolf, so it would’ve been late 2013. At this point, I focused on completing islands. With the help of my brother, we completed tons of islands, and he soon made his own account (Wild Hawk).

After a while, I decided to see what Google had to offer about Poptropica. I began looking up Poptropica and things related to Poptropica on Google. Then, I found Poptropica Secrets, the first Poptropica blog I read. I began to view it more frequently, and shortly after, I found the PHB. After discovering that there were many Poptropica blogs around, I decided that I wanted to blog on one.

2014 | First Blogging Experience

After lots of asking around and trying to be on a Poptropica blog (I asked so many people ^^;), I finally got invited to a blog. It was a blog many of you know as Poptropican Awesomeness. Every time I look back on my first blogging post, I realize how much I’ve changed. (I mean, my grammar was pretty weird back then
)

2014 Brave Dolphin was pretty odd. After this, I began commenting on lots of blogs, and soon after, began working on many more. I even made my own blog, but I deleted it. I think I worked on about 7 or so Poptropica blogs that summer. I also began going more frequently to the Xat PHC, where I met lots of friendly community members. As that summer came to a close, I left blogging, but continued to comment on blogs and chat on the PHC.

At this point, I had been playing Poptropica for quite some time, and I decided that I deserved membership. :’) So, after a few weeks or so of pestering my parents, I was allowed to get a renewing membership on both my and my brother’s accounts! This was such a great day for me – my reaction when I saw my inventory after buying all the store cards with membership was priceless.

2016 | Now, and The Future

In 2016, I returned to blogging! Unfortunately, I didn’t stay for long. School preparations (yes, I’m a nerd), homework, and studying are super important to me, and I’ve decided to focus more on that. But I do still play Poptropica! And now, I’m proud to say I’ve completed all the islands, and Brave Dolphin is still my current main Poptropica account. I am also proud to say I’ve never made a Club Penguin account of my own.

After years of Poptropica, I’ve finally gotten to where I’ve wanted to be. This year, the PHC on Discord was created, where I’ve also met lots of new people, and made some good friends. Nowadays, I can be found frequently on the PHC. I don’t play Poptropica as often as before (I used to play it so much every day), but I do still enjoy playing through new islands (and critiquing them with friends), creating new costumes, checking out awesome Poptropica blogs, and occasionally Multiversing with fellow Poptropicans.

Poptropica has made up a big part of the 14 years I’ve been alive. It is the game that I’d sneak to play on the computer, when I was supposed to be asleep. The game that made me rush through my schoolwork, just to play when I finished in class. And, it was the game where I met the awesome community that you are all a part of. The community has grown so much – I never imagined we’d have something like Poptropican Meme Face Mondays (which, by the way, are awesome!). I’ve made friends along the way – you guys know who you are! I’m not sure when exactly my time in the community will end, but when it does, I definitely will not forget it. If you read this, thanks for reading! 😀

2012 | Discovery

One summer day in 2012, I was very bored. That’s when I discovered Poptropica. No, I did not find it through Funbrain like many others did! I actually just searched Google for fun internet games and happened to come across it.

The first island I completed was Spy Island, and I loved it! The thing I liked most about the island was the setting. But not only did I like the idea of a spy adventure, I also found it interesting that it was one of the only islands set at night time. Also, the plot twist about Director D shocked me. I thought it was one of the most interesting parts of the island! It took me some time before I actually completed the island for the first time, but I was so excited when I did, that I was running up to all my siblings and telling them about my huge accomplishment!

I thought if the first island I played was that fun, the other adventures that this game had in store for me had to be fun too! And that’s when I began exploring more. I played every day that summer.

2013 | Awesome Fashion

During the year of 2013, I played Poptropica a lot more. Aside from beating the islands, I found a new interest: Poptropica fashion! I started searching for all of the best outfits for my Poptropican to wear. I spent some time looking for awesome clothes on islands, and I also checked the common rooms for bits and pieces of outfits that I could turn into a completely new look. I had so much fun with that!

I even drew pictures of my Poptropican wearing all kinds outfits, even some that I designed myself. The Poptropican I had during this year had long, straight, medium brown hair. Her name was Wild Stomper. My favorite outfit for her to wear was a black dress from Spy Island, and a necklace and hand-held fan from the Royal Ball costume. She also had curled bangs and the pink lipstick from the Swan Ballerina costume. I also found a white dress that I loved and a pair of fairy wings from a common room, but I never found out where they originally came from.

2014 | A Break I Didn’t Want to Take

In 2014, a lot of serious things were going on in my life (personal things that I don’t want to openly talk about). Although I didn’t lose interest in Poptropica, I didn’t spend nearly as much time in the game. In fact, I probably only logged onto my account 3 times during that whole year.

2015 | Back, And With Many Poptropicans!

By the time it was 2015, I started playing Poptropica more frequently again. With my interest in Poptropica fashion, I decided to make more Poptropicans. Why? Because I wanted to try out new outfits with different character designs (without losing the old ones). So I made a lot of Poptropicans on lots of different accounts.

Some of these Poptropicans included a girl with short black hair, a girl with long blue hair and black glasses, a girl with brown curly hair, a girl with short blonde hair, and even one boy, who had light brown hair. But my favorite was Zippy Coyote, the one with short blonde hair. Although I don’t spend as much time winning islands on this account, I liked this name and character design best, so I decided to go by the name Zippy Coyote. I chose to go by Zippy Coyote on all the social media profiles I later created.

2016 | How I Found The PHB

One day in January, I discovered some Poptropica videos. I watched them for the first month or so, but they started to bore me. Why, you might ask? Because everyone posted the same thing! Walkthroughs, walkthroughs, and more walkthroughs! But one day, I saw a different channel named PoptropicaPerfectSky. I was amazed at how she could make such well-developed Poptropican movies, and of course, I just had to subscribe!

Anyway, so how did I find the PHB? Well I once saw a comment that Perfect Sky made on her channel discussion page, referencing the Poptropica Help Blog. I didn’t know what it was, so I googled it, and immediately fell in love! With this blog, I learned great tips and tricks, and I found written island guides, which I prefer over video guides. I even found ASGs that helped me get better Poptropica fashion! And the most important thing to me, I got to see a big community of people with a passion for Poptropica – plus I was relieved to see that I’m not the only 14-year-old who still plays Poptropica!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Kyoto

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Kyoto (alas, not to do with the city in Japan), who treats his Poptropica avatar Calm Tooth as his best friend in life. See below for details on sending in your MPIP!

mpip kyoto

Hello! My name is Kyoto and I’m 19 years old. My Poptropica avatar’s name is Calm Tooth, and my username is vincent9824. I’ve been playing Poptropica for a long time. Now I’m here to tell my story of my journey with this game… so yeah! Let’s go!

2007 – 2009 | The Beginning

I first found Poptropica when my cousin showed me the game on her computer. I was really intrigued by the character design, and when I realized that the creator of the game was one of my favorite authors – Jeff Kinney – I knew I had to start playing it right away. Even though there was only one island at the time, Early Poptropica. But that was fine – a lot of islands later showed up, like Shark Tooth and Time Tangled.

2010–2014 | The Hard Times

I played the game for a long time and found myself quite addicted. My friends kept telling me that the game wasn’t that great and told me to stop playing it. However, I refused, because to me Poptropica had value: it’s like solving a puzzle, you need to find the right pattern and solve it with your mind.

One New Year’s Eve, I entered an island called Skullduggery, but upon entering, my account was lost… I don’t know what happened, but I couldn’t get to it anymore. I stopped playing after this, even though I missed my avatar, Calm Tooth.

2015 | An Unexpected Surprise

At some point, I was busy doing some bug testing on some games I played, including Poptropica.I went back to the site and tried to enter my login data for Calm Tooth. Suddenly something awesome happened: my account – Calm Tooth – was back! …I screamed with happiness as I excitedly got back into Poptropica once again, and managed to complete some islands. That was the best day of my life.

What’s interesting is that when I checked the elements of the game, I noticed a virus that was in my PC due to the large and unknown files I had installed for my bug testing that made my flash player profile reset the elements of the game. Days later I had my PC repaired and I continued playing Poptropica.

2016 | Calm Tooth is my best friend

Even though I’m busy with school, I still play the game, and the more I play it, the more Poptropica becomes cooler to me. I’ve since completed every island, except the original Home Island quest due to its retirement. But I don’t really care, because I had a lot of fun with my best avatar, Calm Tooth!

Right now I’m waiting for the next island to be released. While waiting, I just visit common rooms and replay some islands. Me and Calm Tooth are ready for anything! I treat Calm Tooth as my best friend, my brother, and my partner in life. I customized Calm Tooth to look the same way I do in real life, which you can see in the picture at the top of this post.

To all Poptropicans out there, here’s a message for you guys: Follow your dreams, and don’t let people take control of yourself because you have to live your own dreams! May God bless you.

Thank You
from Me and Calm Tooth

That’s my Poptropica story. Have a great day and a great life, everyone! You can add me on Poptropica – my username is vincent9824.

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Big Crumb

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Big Crumb, a Poptropican who learned to appreciate Poptropica’s progress and still loves the game. See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip bigcrumb

Hello, fellow Poptropicans! This is Big Crumb, and my username is lazylady19. I wrote this MPIP because I thought it was fun to do! Hope you enjoy!

2011-2012 | An Amazing Discovery!

I made my amazing discovery of Poptropica back when I was in third grade, and it was the teacher who suggested it. Since I didn’t know how to spell it back then, I was quiet about it for a while. Until one day, while I was on Funbrain, I saw a Poptropica advertisement and I thought it would be fun to take a look, because of my teacher’s suggestion.

Of course, being the little stupid kid I was back then, I was very uncreative with usernames and I made a really random one like “lazylady19” [cringes] But I loved Poptropica. I played with my best friend at the time, who helped me solve islands. She also played a little part in my finding of Poptropica.

Like I said before, I LOVED Poptropica. Every day I would make myself a Poptropica goal and say “I’m going to complete this island today!” and sometimes I did… though most of the time I didn’t.

One year in, by 2012, I was literally obsessed with Poptropica! I had about 18 medallions (with the help of my friend of course) and I went on every day to see what was different and what new features had been added.

2013 | PHB Discovery

The islands seemed to get harder as I progressed through the game. I needed a walkthrough (especially for *cough cough* Skullduggery *cough*) I searched up some walkthroughs, but really wasn’t interested because it was all in video format.

But then I discovered a written walkthrough here on the Poptropica Help Blog, which gave me all the details on how to beat the islands! (I also made a WordPress account for this website!) I loved it a LOT. ❀ Love you PHB!

2014 | The Golden Age

Poptropica really improved around this time, and I was very, very interested. I didn’t play as much, but when I did, I cherished it. That was because there were many new islands that I thought were amazing and drastically better than before! The new islands also had demos for non-members, which made me want them to be released sooner, since I couldn’t play the full island as a non-member until after the members’ Early Access period.

2015 | Loss of Interest

Many more upgrades have caught my interest in Poptropica, but in 2015, I barely noticed those changes because I never played. Sometimes, I completely forgot about it. I didn’t play for 4 months since school started, since I was occupied with that.

I checked Poptropica to answer those pop quizzes, but I never actually played. Then one day, I decided to check Poptropica again, and noticed that some of the islands had gotten quite upgraded, plus there were new episodic islands! After all that time, I really didn’t think about how Poptropica could have progressed, but it sure proved that it had!

2016 | Starting to grow on me again!

Yes, Poptropica is starting to grow on me again. Probably not as much as when I started 5 years ago, but it is definitely growing on me again. I’m going into 9th grade and I love checking the PHB, going on Poptropica to complete islands again and again, and I love Poptropica! ❀ It’s been a very interesting trip for me, and I probably left out many, many details, but this is all I can remember for now. After all, it has been five years!
