Announcing… the Poptropica Help Subreddit!

Hi Gs,

I’m pleased to announce the opening of the Poptropica Help subreddit – at reddit.com/r/poptropicahelp! It’s essentially a minimalistic forum (you might even call it PHF (Poptropica Help Forum) 2.0!) for all things Poptropica – check it out:

subreddit

If you casually browse the internet, you may have heard of Reddit, which is basically a user-generated hub of news links that shows the most popular stories based on user votes. Subreddits focus on specific niches, in this case Poptropica, and this subreddit is now another facet of our Poptropica Help Network.

On the Poptropica Help subreddit, we encourage you to post helpful tips, jokes, witty ideas, theories, costumes, and basically anything imaginable! Once you post your tidbit, it gets thrown into a big bucket of other posts. Users of the subreddit sort the cream from the crud (by “upvoting” or “downvoting”) until the best posts show up on the “hot” section of the forum.

You’ll need a Reddit account (it’s free) to vote, comment, and post on our subreddit – plus there are many other subreddits out there you may be interested in! In any case, while there is an /r/poptropica, it is mostly inactive – but with your help, we can make our Poptropica Help subreddit a hotbed of activity!

Pop on over and start posting some Poptropica content! 😀

TAFN.

  1. Slantedfish has some explaining to do. Why? My most recent post is on the forum.

    Hehe, just kidding*!

Anyway, this sounds cool. First, the Poptropica Wiki. Then, PoptropiComic & Giant Hawk Adventures. Next, Meme Face Mondays. The Poptropica Help Blog is growing by the minute!

*Well, about her having to explain herself and delete it off the forum. The post is there though.

  2. Going to my village today for 1 week, guess now I have to play the app version till then! XD Will miss poptropica! XD

  3. Okay,I’ve got a lot of questions for you.

First of all,I remember seeing the subreddit in the community sub-bar all the way back in September/October. Why did you take so long in announcing this?

Second, doesn’t reddit have an age limit? If it does, you could be unintentionally allowing underage users of this blog to use a site with a lot of…er…actually, that brings me to my final question:

Reddit is mostly populated by adults. Hence, there is a lot of mature content. By making a subreddit, you are making young users use reddit. This could indirectly result in them exploring the NSFW part of reddit content. I know you don’t actually want this to happen, but at the very least, shouldn’t you at least put a disclaimer or something?

    1. To answer your questions:

      1. I made it in September, but didn’t announce it as I wasn’t completely finished with it. Just fell back and I just recently got around to finishing up some major design necessities.

      2. This is true (Similarly to Twitter), however, Poptropica seems to be fine with using Twitter — and there are plenty of children friendly subreddits out there (e.g. /r/nitrome). 🙂

  4. Sweet! I’m The_Mad_Apper on the subreddit! Also, check out my latest post, guys! I linked it. Big stuff is coming soon…
