Dr. Hare LEGO project turned down

Remember the big campaign last year for the Dr. Hare’s Lair project on LEGO CUUSOO to reach 10,000 supporters so that it could be considered for production? We haven’t heard from the Creators on this since the goal was reached last August, but this is what shows on the site now:

Yup… it looks like we’re not going to have a Poptropica LEGO set anytime soon. 😦 Apparently, the LEGO CUUSOO team had already reached this decision about a month ago (on Jan 30, 2014). The Creators never mentioned this, so had I not checked, I wonder when we would’ve found out. 😛

Here’s an excerpt of what they said about the decision:

First and foremost, congratulations to PopCreators for reaching 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO, and toward everyone for all of the support of the Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair project! The results of the LEGO Review are in and you can see full details on the LEGO CUUSOO Blog.

Review Results for Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair

Our team has thoroughly considered the possibility of releasing this project as a LEGO set according to the criteria of the LEGO Review. Unfortunately the LEGO Review Board has decided that we will not produce this project as a set.

Thank you to PopCreators for the passion and creativity that went into this project, and to all of you who voted so that we would have the opportunity to consider this as a potential LEGO set. We’re sorry to deliver this disappointing news.

Personally, I quite like LEGO products, and to combine it with Poptropica would have been really cool, so I’m sad to hear that the final decision was a no. 😦 Still, at least we got some cool Dr. Hare stuff out of the campaign. 😛

  1. Aw man… 😦 …well…. All that time Dr. Hare yelled at us wasn’t enough in the end…. *sigh* Looks like Lego stopped him from taking over ^^;

    1. I wonder if it is because it might be unfair to other CUUSOO members that the Creators of a project have a significant advantage over other people? I mean, the Creators had the oppurtunity to advertise Dr. Hare’s Lair in the actual game, and they offered prize bribes during the ride? Other users, the fans of whatever they’re trying to push, don’t have that advantage and publicity with their Lego CUUSOO projects.

    1. They have been colloquially known as LEGOs, but okay, I’ve changed it. If we’re going to point out semantics, though, I’d argue that your saying “Lego” would not be correct either, as the brand name is completely capitalized. 😛

  2. What?! No…! Just… no. 😦 This project is one of the few that reached 10,000 supporters, and then the LEGO CUUSOO team just turned it down just like THAT?! Let’s start a petition.

    1. Not just LIKE that. There are a lot of stages to it. Will it market well? Does it live up to the LEGO name brand? Maybe it’s too expensive? Perhaps it may not be creative enough. Perhaps it would be better if they made a Skulldugery Ship thing, that may be more successful!

      1. Maybe you’re right… 😛
The Skulldugery Ship thing is a good idea… but Dr Hare is still the best!

  3. It is possible to make another project like it, and they *might* accept it. It’s happened before. There’s still a chance!

  4. Poptropica needs to make a friggin TV commercial… I swear… Cartoon Network, Disney, Nickelodeon… it’s the reason why Moshi Monsters and Club Penguin are getting more players. Maybe Pearson is preventing that!

  5. Noooooooooooooooooooo I built a barn with the cat the tool shop the reasaront Evan a blimp and the old caret place out of all my
Logos I just needed Dr hare but now I can’t so I just have a Lego poptropica island with

No end so so so so sad why they do this to us 😦 :(:( :(:(

  6. Well, there’s nothing to stop them from trying again. If LEGO sees that enough people want it, they might accept it.

  7. they r like: We’re sorry to deliver this disappointing news.

and i say: WELL IF YOU ARE SORRY THEN WHY ARE YOU SAYING IT CANT BE A SET?!?!?!?!?
