Skullduggery Island, Sneak Peeks

Bird boat?

On the Poptropica Facebook page, there’s a special sneak peek for Skullduggery Island, clearly related to the bird boat seen yesterday. The “scrambled” bits of the picture in the last sneak peek are clearly arranged here and obviously belong to this ship.

Looks like this Skullduggery Island ship is almost ready for its christening! Wonder what it’s called…

What do you think? Here were some thoughts from other Poptropican players on our Poptropica Help Forums:

  • “Looks like a weird ceremony for the preparation of a ship.” ~Setew2
  • “Maybe food for the bird so it doesn’t pick your eyeballs out? …just theory.” ~Coderkid
  • “The pirates are birds.” ~Sanzulines
  • “To christen a boat you smash a bottle champaign against the side.” ~MuddyDragon
  • “Maybe it’s some lame trap? o_0” ~Happy Fang

This large vessel seems to be designed to look like a bird, and this scene shows that it is about to receive a name. Yellow ribbons aligned on the dock and a bottle of apple cider hanging from the sky portrays a celebration, but what’s with the seed bag? ._.

  1. Arr Matey’s! tis the magnificent Hawk of the Seas, used by skullduggery pirates to lure the mighty birds to their ship and capture them for later use on unsuspecting villagers.

  2. Perhaps the ship is alive? Or maybe it has an avian guardian that you must pacify with seed in order to get the ship. Why is it APPLE cider, though? Don’t you normally christen boats with champagne?

    1. You might be right about the ship being alive, Coskit, but maybe the apple cider’s there because someone realizes it got mixed up with the champagne and so you have to get it before the boat christening starts.

    2. I thought champagne was alcoholic… I guess they made it cider so they wouldnt send a negative message to kids.

Im thinking that the bird is either a vulture or a hawk…

    3. because this is a kids website ( no offenese to teenagers) so they wouldnt do champagne. i mean if you were 8 years old would yoru parent want you seeing champagne on a island?

      1. Well, it is pretty close. Apple Juice and Champagene are almost the same excpet with out the alcohol. Hijuyo, remember there are kids from ages 6-15. Most of the Poptropicans are ages 5-8. So it is still fairly educational. Despite that one little fact. How would you feel if you had a 6 year old friend or something drinking champagene because of SkullDuggery Island. It would be the very last island ever.

Whoops, went to far. So sorry, but I spoke my mind.

      2. You can know about the purpose of alcohol without actually drinking it. The whole game is still fairly educational, but when they start to teach a lie, that could be a problem.

How hard is it for a 6-year-old to know the difference between pirates celebrating with champagne as opposed to how bad it is for their health?

  3. I think it’s apple cider because it is, after all, a kids site. I think they don’t want to express alcohol. The beak on the side is obviously a cannon, and those claws are talons. Maybe the captain is named Birdbeak.

  4. Maybe, you and Captain Crawfish are trying to overthrown the bird ship. You know, bird vs fish. Bird wins. Distract it with seeds. Possibly, the bird ship is a transport ship until you reach a port with the part where you can make your own ship. You know what I am talking about? Those are my opinions.

    1. I can’t believe you guys guessed an answer like this! Pirates are bad guys. In Poptropica, you always defeat bad guys in some way. Ergo, you would never be joined with pirates. plus, pirates don’t do naming celebrations for ships. I know this was guessed before the island was open to people, but that’s just PATHETIC!

  5. Hmm… Well, this isn’t related to what it COULD be, but what it could do. Maybe the ship shoots out bird seeds, and the captain is a bird! They could’ve kidnapped someone! And the apple cider could attract worms, since birds love worms!

  6. Maybe, the ship belongs to apple-cider loving pirates who smuggle parrots that love seed, and have a curios affiliation with yellow ribbons.

Maybe the pirates are self conscious about their alcoholic intake.

  7. Chapange?I thought the pirates were gonna take gold instead of rum.But it could apple juice!

  8. It is obviously a giant bird. I bet you have to put the seed in something inside to turn it on or something.

I think during the Island Quest, you need to assemble a crew, then battle numerous pirate ships. As we travel, we can upgrade our ship at different ports. Captain Crawfish would kinda be like a boss, or something, and he would be waiting at the Pirate HQ (the picture on the skullduggery info page.) It’s just a guess.

  9. Hmmm… Since the boat is sorta like a bird and there’s birdseed, maybe it’s some kind of party in honor of the boat with…birds? LOL, I don’t know, just a guess.

  10. nice post coskit it’s a ship used to fight other pirate ships/enemies and to conquer the world my guess lol

  11. its a boat of yours, its an upgrade of your ship the “Phoenix War bird” and see the rope and the apple beer? you need it to get up of your ship. its what i think 🙂
