Our Game Guides offer tips and tricks to play your best at Poptropica’s mini-games. Click on the titles to see our guides, and scroll down for more about retired games from bygone days!

Getting to the games

It’s easy to get started: tap the menu in the top corner and select Arcade to be blasted into the Arcade, a whimsical world where you can meet other players and play on various game machines!

Some other islands also have their own common rooms where you can battle other players in head-to-head games, such as the Party Time Tower on Time Tangled Island or the cinema on 24 Carrot.

Head-to-Head Games

These are two-player games you can play with other players in Poptropica’s common rooms. To start a game, find the head-to-head game machine!

🎈 Balloons »

Click on a nozzle to release a balloon. The first person to get four balloons in a row wins! You can line them up straight or diagonally.

☁️ Sky Dive »

Your goal is to safely reach the ground before your opponent. When it says go, click once to jump, then click again when you’re ready to open your parachute.

✨ Star Link »

Click between the stars to link them together and form boxes. You’ll be awarded a point for each box you complete.

Single-Player Games

These games can be played by only one player, and they’re each found on separate game machines within the Arcade common room.

🚀 Blaster Attack »

Dodge asteroids by swerving your blaster, and press the space bar to obliterate them for points.

🚘 Crash-n-Bash »

On the road, watch out for fires, pick up boosts for speed, and bump into as many cars as you can for more points!

💥 Pop-tastic »

Pop all the balloon animals before they get too close! Each pop gets you 10 points. How many can you pop in 30 seconds?

Bygone Days

Before the mini-game system was re-hauled in late 2018, Poptropica had more (mostly head-to-head) mini-games. Here’s what they were like.

🔷 Pathwise »

On your turn, click on any tile to change it to your color. Your goal is to create a pathway that connects the two sides of your color.

🔢 Sudoku »

Enter digits from 1 to 9 into the blank spaces on the playing board by typing or clicking. Every row, column, or 3×3 square must contain one of each digit.

🍒 Switch »

Swap the position of any two adjacent fruits by clicking on them with your mouse. Connect three or more fruits in a row to score points!

🏀 Hoops »

Use your mouse to aim and power your shot, then click to throw. The first player to make five shots wins!

💦 Paint War »

Drag the gun to aim. Press, hold, and release the FIRE button to shoot at the paint balloons. The first player to pop 7 balloons wins!

🍲 Soupwords »

Spell words by connecting two or more letters. Find as many words as you can before the soup gets cold!

🧙‍♂️ Twisted Wizard »

To get Greg off his video game console on Wimpy Wonderland Island, you’ll have to beat the game Twisted Wizard for him. It’s three whole levels of ogre-zapping fun!

The bygone days of pre-2019 didn’t just carry these other mini-games—there were also other ways of meeting up with players, where you could challenge them to compete with you!

These days most players will go to the Arcade or one of the island common rooms to play, but once upon a time, there was also a feature called the Multiverse where players could create their own temporary room and hang out with others who they invited using a code. There were five room designs available: Big Brain Factory, Enchanted Forest, Techno Room, Sweet Tooth, and Crystal Cavern (the latter is pictured below).

Another method of meeting up, though less popular, was to enter the tribe common rooms. Each of the eight tribes from Poptropolis Games Island had their own room especially designed for the tribe. You can learn more about each tribe and view their rooms on their respective PHB tribe pages.

Back in those days, each player also had their own battle ranking, a ranking out of five stars to show how good they were at head-to-head games. It wasn’t a perfect system: the higher your ranking, the more wins it would take for your ranking to go up—but it was quite easy to drop your ranking with a single game loss. By default, players started with one star.

Just like battle rankings, use the 5-star system below to vote on how helpful this article was! Have fun competing on Poptropica!

  1. I wish you couldd get credits for playing games then I would have a lot of credits. I like the Soda Pop Shop and the Cinema in 24 Carrot. That’s where I usually am (I finished all the islands in one day)

  2. Um, hey I have a question. How did you guys get those hand items like the big swords or plunger :/?

Hijuyo: Some of us have our ways of knowing how to use hacks. (:<

    1. This means I have to find out myself or you’re not gonna tell me, huh.

      ¬3¬

Hijuyo: Yes, because the Poptropica Creators do stalk this blog and they’ll fix any hacks they don’t want players to have access to, so it’s best not to reveal everything we know to the public.

  3. What game gets you closer to a 5 star ranking ? Or does it not matter ? Or is it the game your’e best at ? Please reply !

Hijuyo: The game itself doesn’t matter, but you have to win LOTS of games to get to a 5 star ranking. Playing the game you’re best at means you have a better chance of winning. 😉

  4. I like The Soda pop shop , The Fly By Night Airlines , The Flying Ace Cafe` and The Hair club ! The least popular multiplayer rooms are : The Daily Paper , Coconut Cafe` , Cinema , Moldy Baguette , Billard’s Room , Steamworks Gears , Arcade and the Broken barrell . The Most Popular multiplayer rooms are : Fly-By-Night Airlines , The Flying Ace Cafe` , Midas Gym , Crop Circle Inn , The Soda Pop Shop , Party Time tower , The Hair Club , and Cap’n Salty’s …….. LOOK FOR ME ON POPTROPICA IM ICY LIGHTNING I’LL MOSTLY BE IN THE FLY-BY-NIGHT AIRLINES AND PARTY TIME TOWER (:

      1. Think about what would happen if you could cut everyone’s hair on
        Poptropica.

  5. It would be cool if the “multiplayer only” games would able to play while you are not in the multiplayer room ! And your opponent could be the computer ! So even if all the multiplayer are full or don’t have any people , you could play the games you want

  6. I made this game up:
Go to Skullduggery and have a boat with a good amount of speed and cannons.
Find creatures and kill them, see how far you can go!

      1. Good choices! Those are definitely my two favorite games! And I am soooooooooooo good at them!

  7. The thing is I am just soooooooooo good at most of these games. Here is the list of games I am good at.
    Pathwise
    Soupwords
    Star Link
    Sky Dive
    Hoops
    Switch

And here is the list of games I am not so good at:

    Balloons
    Paint War
    Sudoku
    Twisted Wizard

However, I loooooooooooooooove all of them!!!

  8. I have an idea about something you could do, and you could do this with any multiplayer games! Go look for someone with a high battle ranking, an average of about 4 to 5 stars. Play any game with them. It will be hard to beat your opponent. If you win it means you are very good at that game! Also try your hardest not to lose, because if you do, you will lose part of your battle ranking, and then it will take longer to get to 5 stars.

    1. I once had 3 and 1/2 stars, but when I played a game with someone with 4 stars
and I won, the one who lost the game
lost 1/2 of one of his stars.

  9. what happens if i didn’t get the clippers on cryptids? What do i do.

Hijuyo: Go back and get the bolt cutters; you need them.

  10. There’s a new game : Twisted Wizard . Could you make a guide for that ?

Hijuyo: If someone writes one. 😛

    1. I got a guide for Twisted Wizard. Ok Here is how to play. Go into your games in your backpack and click on Twisted Wizard. Click on the wizard. You need to enable cheats. So, x out the game and go into the Wimpy Wonderland stuff of yours and click on the guide. Your poptropican will say that to set easy mode by clicking the wizard on the Start Memu. Now go back to the backpack and go into the games section and click on the game Twisted Wizard. Click the wizard. It says to enable cheats. Now click okay and start playing. On Level One, bulid a castle by using all the blocks before time runs out. When you have used all the blocks, its time to defeat the green guys. When you see one, defeat it with your mouse. Keep doing it until time runs out. When time runs out, you are on Level Two now. On Level Two, bulid some more of your castle. Use all the blocks before time runs out. After you use all the blocks, its time to defeat some more green guys. It will get just a little faster but it will still be easy. Now two or more green guys might show up with each other. Defeat them fast before the other guys get you. Defeat all the guys. When time runs out, you are moving on to the last level Level 3. Now bulid some more so the green guys won’t get in. Use all the blocks before time runs out. When you have use all the blocks, defeat the guys again. Now more and more will come so defeat them fast. Keep doing it or else you will lose. When time runs out, you won! Great job! I tried the game so I know all this. Post this to the game guides please!

      2. Thanks for writing a guide for Twisted Wizard! You don’t have to be so demanding about getting your guide published; here at the PHB we will only publish something if we think it’s worth it.

In any case, I’ve fixed it up a little and put out a Twisted Wizard guide on a page you can access by clicking here. Thanks again, Prickly Dolphin. 🙂

      3. Oh thanks Hijujo!!! Sorry I was demanding!!! I just want it to be posted!! I wanted to be a helper. I mean no one wrote one yet except me. I looked at the guide. 11. Wow. Wait if you baught the credits and the room became empty, could you re-created another room without using MORE credits? Just wondering, and this website is great! (Just letting you know.)

    ~Gleek

Hijuyo: Yes! You only have to pay once for Multiverse (on one account, of course).

  12. I have completed all the islands. Now all I need is to earn 5 stars and then my life will be complete! (Just kidding).

    1. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!! I still haven’t completed Astro Knights, Skullduggery, Steamworks, Wild West, Wimpy Wonderland, Red Dragon, and Game Show… I know thats A LOT OF ISLANDS….

Hijuyo: Haunted House isn’t a game, it’s a mini quest. A guide for it can be found here.

    1. Poptropica Membership costs money, but you can still enjoy the game without it. (The minigames listed above are free.) Check out our Membership Tour page for more information on what you can get, plus help on deciding whether you want to buy it.

  18. Good, I am southern and I get mean, Don’t YOU EVER talk like that on this blog. You can visit just don’t talk like that, everyone wants to keep this blog as cool as a cucumber, which I am going to eat with cauliflower and brussel sprouts

    1. hey peeps. my top 5 games are these:
      1. Sky Dive
      2. Star Link
      3. Hoops
      4. Paint Wars
      5. Soupwords
      Peace! Blue Peanut OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!!!!

  19. i have a battle ranking of 3.4 which i am angry because once i had 4.5 then lost 2,just 2 games and it went down to 3.4 and no matter how many time i win games,my battle ranking NEVER goes back up and in total in all games
    Wins-474
Losses-205 i mean i was excepting to have about 4.2 by now,so that just sucks 🙄

  20. This is my strategy for Star Link:
Go all the way along the edge (or as much as you can) and when there’s a square with three lines, move in for the kill!
